I don't weigh in often, but I have been a coach for 39 years. Any higher level football team is a large, complex operation. Anybody who has coached will tell you about the teams that exceeded expectations and ones that mystified us with a myriad of issues. All that being said, let me make a few points about one person that I personally know.. I realize I am bucking a trend to make these statements...so be it.
As we seek fault and a fall guy for our present state...... Let's stop dragging Jay Jacobs through the mud... I am not seeking any popularity in making my statements here, nor do I really care about those who really are fans in the fanatic sense (nor am I calling anyone a fanatic). Those that seek to have a football program vaildate their reason for living are beyond logic, too. We love them in their own way, but this message is not for them. I have been an Auburn fan since I was a little boy on a farm in the 1950's, with only a radio to connect me with my team. I am an Auburn man...up or down...winning or losing...
Jay Jacobs is a smart, loyal, passionate, honest, and meticulous person. He is an Auburn man, through and through. He is the same guy who was responsible for the staff that put the NC together. He has not changed. I knew him as a college football player and high school coach in the 80's and I have not been around a more organized, inspirational, God-fearing coach in my life. The kids would run through walls for him. He is a fantastic person...and he is human....just like any other AD in college sports. Ask the Texas AD....ask any other AD that sees the ebbs and flows of his sport programs. Jay is a solid AD. The same people who spoke in glowing terms about him at the top are often the same folks who have decided he is an idiot in difficult times. There is no magic and no magic person to save us...only hard work, trial and error and persistence will work. We are not pleased to be in Alabama's football shadow right now, but we will overcome...due to our traditions, work habits, commitment to excellence... and a steady, solid AD like Jay Jacobs. Nuff said.....

With all respect, Coach, his faith does not make him a good AD. He might bleed orange and blue but he doesn't bleed orange and blue more than David Housel. Housel gave in to pressure, made a stupid mistake, and had to resign. Some of us believe the same about jacobs, he made a stupid mistake (actually several stupid mistakes) and he should resign.

I am glad you said this because it is 100% the truth. However, the CHILDISH responses given to you here are what really disappoint me about our "supposed" fan base. I say "supposed" because I still personally believe that the attitudes and opinions of sheer disrespect (bordering on hatred) expressed here lately towards JJ and CGC and TJ may represent less than 5% of our actual "family". However, the fact that they are LOUD AND PROUD can't be denied and when you have reputable Auburn bloggers like Coulter joining the "lynch mob" it really gets concerning.
With that being said, 99% of you screaming loudly that JJ, CGC and TJ are idiots, incompetent buffoons, puppets, etc etc are nothing more than incompetent psycophants regurgitating EXACTLY the same lying drivel that Paul Finebaum and his turd minions have been making up for the last couple of years. Phillip has tried to tell you (even in this post) that you are 100% wrong in your assumptions and character assasinations of Tim Jackson and Jay Jacobs, but you completely ignore him and continue to spew forth your venom. I have yet to figure out how our "family" as a whole will (rightfully) blow off the ridiculous accusations made by Finebaum, Jay Barker and others who are SWORN ENEMIES of our program for what they are - lies, ridiculous and preposterous lies, as long as we are winning.....but then when times get tough, a very vocal faction of our fan base latches onto those same lies as PROOF of what is wrong with our program. YOU ALL MAKE ME SICK!
