It is readily apparent that we have a mess in our football and perhaps our athletic program over all. I am in agreement that both Chizik and Jay Jacobs are over their heads. However, I would not be so quick to throw Dr. Gogue into that conversation. Over the last few years I have been impressed with his leadership of the University. I am more than willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and my expectation is that he will do a good job in navigatiing this current and troublesome situation. I agree that how this turns out will reflect strongly upon his legacy, fairly or unfairly. A person in a leadership situation has to make good hires if the organizational is going to be successful. Sometimes, the first hire is not the best hire. That leader has to be able to adjust, and the second hire has to be spot on. I think this is where Dr. Gogue is in regards to the Coach and the Athletic Director. We all clamor for information and quick decisions, but we all also know that patience is a virtue and time must be taken to get these hires right. I am faithful that tough times will make us stronger. By the way I have never met Dr. Gogue. Listening to the insights of people who know more than I do (like AUGirl) it appears to me that under Gene Chizik's leadership the concept of the "Auburn Family" has been distorted. The Auburn Family that we know and love is about work, hard work. It is about integrity and personal responsiblity and accountability. I do not see those traits being exhibited in this program.
