A junior college safety from Fresno City is officially visiting Auburn this weekend.

Yea,let's get all tore up over his rating by these so called recruiting experts. Those 4 and 5 star players that we signed over the last 3 years have definitely helped lead us to a 3-9 record. Maybe this guy is a FOOTBALL PLAYER.

  • Most of the 4 and Five Stars in our program got pushed around like rag dolls last season. Our safties couldn't tackle and for that matter couldn't cover either. This kid looks like a "baller" with good size and speed. It appears that the two years of Juco ball has allowed for physical maturity. I like his field presence and I hope we offer this kid no matter the "star" ranking. This staff seems to be doing an excellent job of finding talented players that fit the system. While bringing in 5-6 Juco players may not be a good idea every year, this year is an exception due to the lack of performance from our current "many stars who look good on paper" players. Also, I live in the Rock Hill, SC area where the talent level is off the charts. Hope Ellis Johnson still recruits here.

I'm not for bringing in so many JUCOs either, but it looks like we need to in order to fill some serious holes. I have no issue with having a couple JUCOs each year. Some are too talented to ignore.

As far as looking at another JUCO S, I think this is partly a statement by CEJ that he does not feel we currently have enough or good enough ready talent at this position to run his D. It also buys some time to get any HS signees a chance to physically mature.

I don't know what the opposing talent level was like, but I am impressed with how this young man tackles.

  • Reference on JUCO players. Have you noticed Saban every year brings in a couple of JUCO's and they end up being very successful. Don't remember all names, but DB Bluie or something like that. And wasn't the last 2 nose guards, Williams and Cody, JUCO. Then we had Cam and Nick and they proved to be helpful. I used to be against any JUCO, but a few well placed can make a real differnce in your team. Also should inspire other players to work a little harder if they know someone else could come in with experience.

I tend to think that the coaches put more stock into their vast football knowledge, experience and individual and collective abilities to evaluate, coach and develop players than how highly heralded a given player may be according to some recruiting website or what other programs are recruiting them. I imagine they have specific criteria they are looking for at every position and will recruit to ability to meet certain measurables. They will pursue their share of highly regarded players, but will focus less on stars and more on true ability to play and be coached...

We always need plan B backups in case you go after a multi star player and he deserts you on signing day-everybody does it.

I agree with you, i think hosley is going to be very good in the coming years

Holsey was "good" in 2012. He will be even better in the future. He was out there as a true frosh. Matched up with the opposing teams #1 guy. He got beat a few times, sure, but he was all alone at times.

Guys, guys, guys.....relax!!! He has plenty of talent. We just happen to be one of the few "Big Boy" schools that has not established anyone at Safety. (Or many other positions for that matter) There are a BUNCH OF TALENTED KIDS that do not qualify each year. Usually people go after skill guys from JUCO unless they have glaring needs. We just have needs everywhere. We have a ton of talent at Auburn. It just hasn't been put in a position to shine.
