JUCO DT Ben Bradley

  • Hey all -- Husker here.

We spent all day thinking we'd be getting Bradley's LOI today, ended up finding out he went from choosing between Nebraska and Mizzou to Nebraska, Mizzou, Kentucky, and Auburn. With that news, I think a lot of our fan base has dismissed our chances with him.

What do you all think of him, and where do you think you stand with him?

  • There has been no word of him on here honestly.

  • I can't say I'm overly surprised. This has to be one of the more interesting recruiting stories Nebraska has had in recent times.

On Wednesday, he was supposed to choose between Missouri and Nebraska. Pushed it back to today, it was widely thought Nebraska would be getting his commitment today as I mentioned. Time wore on, nothing. Said he was going to tweet it at seven. Time rolls around, nothing. Rivals' Nebraska site reported they were trying to contact him but that he had shut off his phone. Then we eventually find out he's not deciding today because UK and AU have entered the picture.

When Nebraska sites can't get a peep out of him, I'm not exactly shocked this place isn't brimming with information.

    What a case.

We just missed on the #1 JUCO DL because he could not get admitted into Auburn. Auburn came in the picture very quickly with him. So I guess it could be possible. Nothing has been reported on any AU board in regards to him.

    Hey weGo,

All is going well. Definitely in need of some good news in Husker Land, but good otherwise. How are things on your end?

It looks like Rodney Garner was his recruiter at UGA and with Garner now back home at Auburn and our obvious dire need for help at DT, I can see how the AU staff would put a premium on Bradley, especially after missing out on the kid who couldn't get admitted to AU and ended up at Miss St (I believe that's where he went, it was one of those Mississippi schools). I'm not sure how desperate Nebraska is for a JUCO DT but we are in great need of immediate help. We could sell instant playing time thus resulting in his last minute interest. But beyond that, and as others have said, we haven't heard anything about the guy until you got here. But thanks for the heads up.

So, what is your thoughts on this kids ability and potential?

  • Red, This site reported that Malzahn visited Hutchinson CC before the dead period and offered 4 players, including Bradley. There have been follow-on articles and info on the other three since then (OG Devonte Danzey-signee, DT Toby Johnson-visiting in January, and OLB Antonio Longino-visiting in January) but not much follow-up on Bradley. Not sure how hard AU is pursuing Bradley.

From Bryan's article, which focused on Longino:

“Longino said Malzahn offered scholarships to him and his three teammates, 3-star offensive guard Devonte Danzey, 4-star defensive tackle Toby Johnson and 3-star defensive tackle Ben Bradley, during the visit. “It made me feel pretty good,” he said. “We were talking about it afterwards, how big it would be if we all could sign somewhere and all go to that school. That would be crazy.”

  • I was wondering about this guy the other day. TOS has him rated as the #4 overall JUCO and #2 JUCO DT behind Hooks. I wonder why he is ahead of Toby? Must be because of Toby's injury.

    A) Nebraska's Need:

As aujacobs mentioned, there's a serious lack of defensive tackle for Nebraska right now. At the end of this season, we got to the point of using defensive ends on the inside. Looking forward, there's not a lot of optimism right now. We need immediate help. I have zero familiarity with where Auburn stands, but I have to admit: Not liking Nebraska's odds at this point. Sounds as though there is plenty of playing time at both spots. I will say you guys should thank any Nebraska Admissions folks you may know. Sounds as though their relaxed efforts on getting his situation squared away opened the door just enough. Such is recruiting, right? The way I see it, if he wanted to be a Husker -- He has had every chance. To me, that means he's leaning elsewhere.

    B) Rodney Garner:

Biggest reason I think he's an Auburn lean, personally. That and the playing time opportunity.

    C) I'm interested to see how eligibility plays out. He was waiting on an online course. I know an online math course snagged one JUCO earlier this year, keeping him from selecting an SEC school. I haven't the SLIGHTEST idea if the situations are comparable, but it may be something to keep an eye on.

    D) Oryhara -- I have no damn idea, man. Wish I knew.

Thanks for being so welcoming, guys. Makes the site that much better.
