I know players come into the mix and move out just as fast at times, but when the coaches get together in a few weeks what will they actually do? You said that Loeffner was visiting a defensive lineman. How much stock in a player can be derived from a coach’s evaluation of a player he'll never coach? Is it just academic progress and gauging a player’s interest in Auburn?
Do they weigh their chances on top targets and build a plan to go forward? And what might make them decide just to go elsewhere to fill a void.
Also, where does a coach find diamonds in the rough so to speak? I suspect camps. But do they rely on recruiting services, word of mouth, or do they have a relatively unknown prospect send video or request a visit from a coach?
I know these are rambling questions, but recruiting has become a science of fulfilling needs as well as getting the best player available.
Is a Crystal Ball used in the recruiting process? I know Auburn has a real nice one.
Most importantly, how in the hell do you keep up with all this stuff?
To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift.
