As opposed to one that hides his faith. Not religion in football. Christian as part of who you are. Big difference.

Yeah, I also felt a little uneasy hearing that. Such remarks publicly can be construed as prejudicial and Lord knows we do not need that kind of reputation here. All excellent coaches regardless of race, creed, religion, color, etc. should be welcome here and evaluated impartially. Despite being the proper and ethical policy, there are state and federal laws in place that are supposed to safeguard individual rights or freedoms (including religious observance) and employment practices. Someone needs to put a positive spin on Gus' remark, if possible, before it grows legs.

Calm down guys. Nobody but Coach and the prospect and his parents were in on the conversation. Maybe Coach's comment was something very important to the young man and his parents, and that's why he felt he needed to share it.

I think the term Christian, was taken too literally here. I believe what Coach Malzhan meant was guys who believed in God, who thought as he did, and who lived what they believed. Too many out there that calls themselves Christian, but don't live it out in thieir lives if the truth be known, including me some days. "Christian" was actually first used as a negative term in Biblical times for those who followed the Christ. Christ was looked at as a troublemaker and one who was against the government at the time. I prefer a Child of God. One who is dependent upon Him and knows who his protector is. I personally like the thought. No better role model. They will be more as one, knowing how the others thinks about morals, respect, and life building foundation that those things create, just as God intended.

If his young man and his parents like the fact thats our coaches are christians then so be it, its sad that people cant read an article without always some negative ass statement, If he wants the Lord in his everyday life then who are we to judge this young man, me personally think its great!!!!!WDE!!!!!
