I say he still has one more year to go on his 3 year show cause ban imposed by the NCAA for violations at UT.

Pearl does have one more year left, I don't care. We can plead our case in front of the NCAA to not get sanctioned for hiring him. I think it will go something like this:

"Look, we really suck. Please don't make us suck worse, ok? And remember that b*tch who used to work with you that was a real dick about the Cam situation? And how she got fired for sucking? You guys kind of owe us one, don't you think?"

As for comparing it to Petrino, I don't think it'll go like that. I do think we could hire Bruce Pearl without the media backlash that the Petrino hire would have brought. Because Auburn is not a premier, big-time basketball program. Honestly, are we a higher caliber basketball program than WKU is a football program? WKU was praised for their hire. We may not be praised, but we are too basketball-irrelevant for the (out of state, non-bammer) media spending any time criticizing us. I'd argue we are not. It won't be popular with some people, but I think we need to take the chance.

No one - and I mean no one - I know who is in position to know believes there is any chance of Barbee being fired after this season, even if he doesn't win another game. At whatever time Auburn is looking for a coach, I can assure you Bruce Pearl will not be on the list of candidates.

I think Barbee gets two more years. If we aren't any better in two years, he's gone. Period.
