I would like someone explain this to me

  • I'm looking at our WR depth chart and wondering...Why is it that E. Blake seems to be the only WR to be making any impact. Out of all our posistions on the team, WR, to me, has been our biggest bust. Players like, Reed, Coats, Denson, Benton, and Bray were all highly rated 4 star recruits...you would think more of them would be making an impact or showing some potential at making an impact. Now, it seems like I'm hearing more and more that JaQuay has a great shot at getting significant playing time. If this happens then that means others aren't getting it done. I'm just curious as to why the lack of "significant" production from the other WRs. I would like yalls thoughts. If I'm off base please enlighten me. For us to be successful this year WE HAVE GOT TO FIND ANOTHER WR TO HELP TAKE SOME OF THE PRESSURE OFF OF BLAKE. I don't want to hear about TEs...we have got to have WRs that are able to stretch the defenses and able to get open on play-action.

  • As far as recuiting WR's, it is hit or miss with a lot of these guys just like other positions. Could be that in this particular position our guys are really not that great. Quarterback play has a lot to do with it and O-line has a lot to do with it, giving time for WR's to get open and someone getting the ball to them. Scheme has a lot to do with it as well. Look at Alabama, they had a stud in Julio but other than that they have not had any great WR's. Also, the WR position requires high ego and can result into a diva mindset. All of them think they are the s#&t and sometimes that cuts into work ethic. Emory Blake is the best example of a WR that works hard and let's his play speak for itself. If all of our WR's had the personality and drive of Emory then we would be unstoppable at WR because I don't think he is any more talented than some of our other 4* WR recuits.

    Well hopefully letting the wide receivers adjust their routes will help, they were not allowed to do that based on the defense before.
