I have a feeling that this is the week where things begin

  • to turn around for our program. There are a couple of nonsensical reasons, like it was my birthday this week and we always win on my birthday week. Also, there have been two days this week where it actually felt like it was finally becoming Fall.

On a more serious note, I think that this week we will see equal distribution between Tre Mason and Mike Blakely and will run the ball very efficiently. I also this is the week that more wide receivers will become involved in the offense. I keep thinking that our DTs have to break through eventually and understand their role in the defense and after two weeks of nothing, I think one or two of them will finally get it. I really hope that Kiehl hits a couple passes early in the game, because once he gets his confidence where it needs to be, I think he will be an outstanding player. He just needs to go through his reads and trust his teammates.

I am also excited by the idea that Justin Garrett and Kris Frost may be on the field at the same time, because of the speed and athleticism that they bring to the table.

I don't know why, I feel this is going to be a good week to be an Auburn fan.

  • Wait, where did you see there is a possibility that Garrett and Frost will be on the field at the same time? That would get me very excite.

Just saw that Garrett may be starting and I know that Frost actually played some LB last game filling in for Bates, so I put two and two together and had the nice thought of Frost and Garrett in the game at the same time. It's a slight bit of conjecture, but rationally plausible.

  • I hope you are right as well. Our defense should play well. I think we have a much better defense than Arkansas so I don't think ULM will be able to score much. We have been able to run the ball well so I think that will continue but I just don't think Frazier will have that good a game, again. I am sorry but he just looks so confused and out of place. So far, does not fit the mold of a solid QB in this league. We win, of course, but a low scoring game, 21-3.

  • By my count, ULM ran 98 plays against Arkansas in regulation. They are another one of those pass-happy, up tempo offenses that give us trouble. ULM's QB was the passing leader and he was also the rushing leader of the game. ULM doubled Arkansas' time of possession. This team will give our defense a difficult time and ULM is going to score points.

Our offense must be able to control the clock and must be able to put TDs on the board. Our passing game is not yet ready to go toe-to-toe with an experienced up-tempo offense, even if it is "just" ULM. I predict we will try to run it down their throats all day and attempt to maximize time of possession. If we get into a shoot-out......
