I am one of the people that was really pushing hard for Petrino. I thought not hiring Petrino was a sign of weakness from our athletic department. Obviously Malzahn had a plan and he sold it to our administration and they bought it. I'm glad they did. A coaching staff is much more than the Head Coach and CGM is putting together a great staff. Not sure Petrino could put together this strong of a staff. It definitely wasn't a hire I hated (CGM was my second choice) but it was the safe hire and now I know it was the right hire. I'm glad they didn't listen to me. WDE

Actually, you are wrong. It was most defintely a sign of weakness.
Nationwide coaching search? Pffff....no we made the safe hire as usual.

I would call Gus a difficult and certainly not safest of the hires. Prolly took a lot of guts to hire him, unproven as he is. Just my opinion tho.
