Humility?

  • That has never been a part of Chizik's vocabulary. People do not remember, but back in Tubs' years, he told numerous people that he would never leave Auburn to go to another school to be a DC. He said it would be a "lateral move," and that he would never leave and he loved Auburn. Then he left for Texas. Why do you think he left? The rumor was that he could not get along with Tubs, but he simply left because everyone knew it was Tubs defense and Chizik could not handle that. Go six years into the future and Malzahn and Cam get the credit and Chizik gets pissed again. So he meddles in the offense last year and this year and we have gone 9-9 after winning a NC. Think about it, no other school can claim that record after a NC. The guy is arrogant and no leader. He wasnt one here from 02-04, at UT from 05-07, at Iowa St from 08-09, and back here. There is a common theme and it is not who surrounds Chizik to blame, but he is to blame. I am tired of his "it's not my fault attitude."

  • Phillip,

A head coach always has influence of what goes on for a team, but that is not my point. My point was that Chizik could not stand that Tubs got credit and he did not get credit. He left Auburn for Texas because he wanted to leave his own mark on a defense, get credit for it, and Mack Brown said he would let him run it. Please enlighten me then why else would he make a "lateral move." He stated numberous times that he would not leave Auburn unless he became a head man. Tubs had just as many credentials as Mack Brown had at the time and for Chizik to tell people that he felt that it would better his career to go to Texas, was ludicrous. He had just gone undefeated, was on the top of the world as a cordinator, and had a pretty good defense coming back. Why else would he leave if he did not want to bask in his own glory? Again, my point is Chizik does not know what humility is, plain and simple.

You may be the only person in the country who would consider going to texas a "lateral move."

Very definitely not true. Tuberville was the furthest thing from a micromanager. It was Chizik's defesne.

I thought one of Tub's strengths was that he delegated rather than micromanaged.

  • Again, he said, "Why would I leave Auburn to become a DC anywhere, because it would be a lateral move." He said that to boosters and others. My point is that he has no humility.

If you want my opinion, I believe he is not a good leader and it the proof I have is his 2 years at Iowa State and now at Auburn.

On a side note it does say something to me that the boosters for Iowa State felt he was arrogant and could have cared less that he left. They were not upset in the least that he left. Now, he has left a bad taste in boosters here and at first it had nothing to do with his record, now most dont care what happens to him. You can be an ass to your boosters if you win, but if you don't then you are gone, plain and simple.

"Why else would he leave ?" Ask Will Muschamp. Also, why would Chizik think he would get more credit for the defense at Texas than he did at Auburn ? I don't think it was because Mack Brown told him he would let him run it. I think it is widely accepted that Tuberville let him run it at Auburn. You said yourself that Chizik was on top of the world as a coordinator. That means that he was being credited for his work. He was "leaving his mark." Your theory contradicts itself at almost every turn. Try again.
