I have ZERO interest in A Day games, none.
Isn't it true that, in many spring games, the defense is ahead of the offense? Regardless, this year's game should be interesting because both units will be employing different schemes. The offense may be slightly ahead because they will be returning to a scheme that was utilized until a year ago and many have played in and/or been recruited for that offense. By the same token, we can bet that Gus will play it "close to the vest." (I should mention that, coming from the 2010 spring game, I had Cam at 3rd string based on what I perceived to be a lack of touch on short to intermediate passes so what the heck do I know!) On the other hand, this defensive scheme seems to minimize the negative effect of our being thin at LB and, from what I understand, will be a bit more aggressive in terms of turning them loose. Aggressiveness is what often leads the defense to be ahead in the first place. I will do what I always do and that is to try and focus on the play at the line of scrimmage. Are there breakdowns because of great individual efforts defensively or because of missed assignments or a lack of physicality offensively? One other thing, I hope to see us play fast, for at least a portion of the time, with both Frazier and Wallace at QB. I want to see how both units react when they are tired. I always enjoy it even if I learn absolutely nothing! WDE
