Auburn from day one.
I don't think we have a problem with tackling per say but finishing plays. The big thing I seen was when someone stood guys up there wasn't much help from near by defenders. Clemson running back is a great back and possibly the best in the acc one on one against him isn't going to happen often. Gotta gang tackle wrap up wait for help and have one or two guys step up and be head hunters and give people that welcome to the SEC hit early and often. I like the way the d played overall just gotta keep improving on the small things and I think this group could be great later in the year when they fully understand the scheme
I feel like we have a lot of head hunters that go for the big hit. In HS it worked because the other kids weren't strong enough or athletic enough to stay standing but in this league just the hit isn't enough. I think the guys who put their heads down are a little further proof of what I believe to be true. As far as how to fix it, I'm not positive. Outside of drills and having back ups waiting on the sidelines to take over a spot if someone isn't using proper technique.
"Listen, Carnell Williams has been an inspiration to this football program and to this university. We're going to miss him when he's gone."
Practice proper tackling technique....repeat every practice until we get it.
Knowing the assignments, schemes and proper alignment is meaningless if we can't tackle effectively.
Keep your head up and wrap up! Everyone to the ball and don't quit until you hear the whistle sound.
