How do the Holier than thou crowd feel about ...

  • a certain General 's recent situation? Does his record of service deserve to be ignored? Don't get me wrong, what they did is wrong, childish, and immature, but we all make mistakes. I happen to have been fortunate to learn from my mistakes prior to Marriage.

Yes, I came clean to my future wife about what an ass I had been in the past. She accepted the fact that people can learn from mistakes, and become a better person. (By the way that was 21 years ago) Just curious as to those who are so vehemently opposed to giving a guy another chance. Not to mention a guy that is possibly the best coach available.

Wow, are we going to start this again? It has been discussed to death. There is not one more thing that can be said about it on either side.

Petrino was NOT fired because he cheated on his wife.

One more time....he was NOT fired for adultery.

Good grief, could pro-Petrino people be misrepresenting that any worse?

Lets keep politics and religion out of the Bodda Ghetta.

Also, Petrino wasn't fired for moral failings. He was fired for cause relating to human resource issues that violated university policy and likely state law. Completely different reasons. Once you get past the risk involved in bringing that kind of recklessness into your athletic department, then you can work on the next issue-i.e. the odious moral failings of the guy many think has completely reformed since April.

you should give us more examples of past transgressions so we can make a complete assessment of your character.

NO... BP did not resign... he was fired. He did not follow the AR law in hiring his mistress... he circumvented it so he could have her close and reward her. Then he lied to his boss. Those two things specifically got him fired.

The only comparison between the two situations is that they both cheated on their wives.

If that's all there was to the Petrino story, a man cheating on his wife...

    A. he'd still be Arkansas' coach, and
    B. He'd be the clear, leading candidate for the Auburn job.

His challenge in getting a job has nothing to do with cheating on his wife. So if the cheating is not what you're getting at, I'm not sure of the point of your post.

I'm sorry but to what do you refer with your crack about "holier than thou?" Are you refering to the desire to hire a man of integrity who does not have a track record of dishonesty? If that's what you're refering to then maybe you need a refresher course in the meaning of "holier than thou" because it is obvious that you don't have a clue as to its meaning.

It has NOTHING to do having the blonde bimbo on his motor. It has EVERYTHING to do with his lying, violating numerous univeristy policies AND breaking some laws. All you petrino lovers, get with reality.

I think the certain General you speak of should be tried for treason. Not for having an affair, but for putting the nation's security at risk through his recklesness.

And also for stupidity. The head of the US's primary espionage agency, and he communicates with his secret lover through GMail?

Pretty much negates any positives in his record of service.

My point was, a whole lot of people act as if they are perfect, never made a mistake in their life. I am not ashamed to say I have messed up in my life, and become a better person for having gone through it.

Bottom line, people who cheat are stupid. I was just curious as to whether people on this board can admit to themselves that they view one persons transgressions differently based on there preconceived opinion of that person.
