a certain General 's recent situation? Does his record of service deserve to be ignored? Don't get me wrong, what they did is wrong, childish, and immature, but we all make mistakes. I happen to have been fortunate to learn from my mistakes prior to Marriage.
Yes, I came clean to my future wife about what an ass I had been in the past. She accepted the fact that people can learn from mistakes, and become a better person. (By the way that was 21 years ago) Just curious as to those who are so vehemently opposed to giving a guy another chance. Not to mention a guy that is possibly the best coach available.

NO... BP did not resign... he was fired. He did not follow the AR law in hiring his mistress... he circumvented it so he could have her close and reward her. Then he lied to his boss. Those two things specifically got him fired.

The only comparison between the two situations is that they both cheated on their wives.
If that's all there was to the Petrino story, a man cheating on his wife...
A. he'd still be Arkansas' coach, and B. He'd be the clear, leading candidate for the Auburn job.
His challenge in getting a job has nothing to do with cheating on his wife. So if the cheating is not what you're getting at, I'm not sure of the point of your post.
