Holding calls

  • How many holding calls will Bama get without the SEC refs to protect them,or look the other way as they always seem to do?

Maybe not as many as you would hope for or they deserve. Read that the NC game would be a PAC-12 crew. You did see the Stanford and USC games vs ND? Make your own conclusions.

  • Al. ran the ball 50 plus times in the SEC champ game had O holding calls, Ga ran 20 plus had two.
Al. passed 20 plus times had 1 inter. call Ga. passed 40 plus times had O on bama
    Are they that perfect!!!!

Do we really have posters that think there is some SEC conspiracy to allow bama to hold in games? Have you really thought that through?

Are you new around here? Did no one tell you that to be a member of this board you have to believe that:
    1. every negative thing that happens to Auburn is part of a conspiracy instigated and carried out by "the rec."
    2. nick saban, paul slimebaum, "the rec" and a host of minions who serve them have bought and paid for not only the sec office but the entire ncaa including officials in every conference, espn and every other media outlet.
    3. all of the above will do everything in their power to see to it that nothing negative ever happens to bammer including having the officials never call a penalty against them?

  • Who wins the game!!!
They went 8 games last year without A holding call When you can call one on any play.

  • Whoever the Alabama offensive line coach is does a very good job of teaching their linemen to keep their arms inside their bodies and that is why they don't get those calls. You can see them on tv but it is very tough to see on the field. Holding is usually called when a lineman reaches outside himself and grabs jersey, i think you are even allowed to grab the chest pads now which has changed from when I played high school.

  • Its All about MONEY getting all the teams you can in bowls, tv at the best slots ect. to make the most money.
I used to be like you till about 6 years ago I started to look at who needed to win to make a bowl are something and it all fell into place.

I Believe Auburn and Love IT...4 Life! You should prepare yourself to live with the consequences of your decisions, whatever they may be.

  • I have read that the PAC-12 crews give out the most penalties of any conference, so that may give pause to both teams. Time will tell if that translates to more penalties against bama. Well-coached teams get fewer penalty calls than teams not as well-coached - reference AU last season. 'Nuff said! WDE!!

  • I watched a uat lineman pull an uga defender down by the collar with the ref standing right there. No way he could have not seen it.

I'm trying to follow this theory but I can't come up with a plausible reason to think that the SEC would conspire to put bama in the BCS title game over UGA. Am I overlooking something obvious?

Mike Slive likes Saban more than Richt? He's scared of Saban? The REC will raise the price of the SEC office's lease? You need more? biggrin

    4evrtiger

  • Which teams playing would you say have the better TV rating, which means money. Last years game was the worst TV rating in history of the BCS and look at the rest of the bowls this year, its a joke. The tv folks had to have this game and it had been talked about all year.

maybe it will also help that they aren't playing at home. when they do, it's not just holding that isn't called. i've never seen anything like it. if they do call a penalty for something, i think they run right over to little nicky to apolligize and ask for forgiveness. it's tough having to play aganist bama and the refs too.

Yeah, I bet we'd have beaten them this year if they didn't cheat so much. Amirate?

It was kind of weird that the refs still helped uat even though everyone knows they didn't need it. It's like they rub it in everybody's face.

We can only guess who you are pulling for in the MNC game. Probably not hard for you to find that teams shirt to wear (give you a hint,.. It's in your closet). obvious bammerfingergun

Are you going to answer the question or just keep accusing everyone of being a Bammer until we're imaginary undefeated?

Firsrt time I've ever called anyone on this board a bammer. Congrats!

Why do you think they allow them to hold?

Uhh, maybe the same reason that they allow the most blatant cheap shot, helmet to helmet hit that I have viewed in over 40 years of watching football and not throw a flag and not suspend the player. My favorite play in the SECCG was the rush on A.J. and the OL puts out his arm and clothes lined the rusher across the neck and closes the arm to nearly form a half nelson to make good and sure there is no chance of getting to A.J. It's not a conspiracy, it's there for anyone who WANTS to see it. I saw 4 or 5 blocks in the back...several coming at the end of plays(punt return etc) where there is someone attempting to tackle and a blatant, vicious hit applied in the back.

    Tigereyes75

  • I don't think there's a conspiracy in the front offices of the SEC or whatever.

Then again, that's not what the original poster of this thread asked.

Alabama does seem to get away with a ton of calls where the refs seem to look the other way. Conspiracy? I have no idea. Frustrating? Absolutely.

From the start of the year, I turned during halftime of AU/Clemson to watch Bama/Michigan. First play was some play where Robinson scrambled and got tackled for a loss. Even the announcer said, "This looks to be a face mask penalty on Bama." Call? Holding. Michigan. Replay showed about as blatant a face mask as you'll ever see. Next play Robinson throws a pass to what looked like a wide open Alabama player. Replay shows the Bama corner one hand shove Michigan's WR out of bounds Not a sneaky one hand shove. Full arm extension.

Bama's a great team. But they seem to get a ton of help from no calls.
