Amsterdams is good. The Hound is excellent (in alley behind Toomer's Corner). Menu is a little unusual but the chef is very good. Pancake breakfast there with hashbrowns and steak is awesome.

There is also a new, sort of gourment taco place on College just down from Toomer's Corner toward Cheeseburger-Chezburger called Tacorita (bad name, should have been Tiger Taco) that has beef brisket, fish and port tacos with some unusual sauces. Not a chain.

    Hamiltons is nice atmosphere.

In Opelika there is a lamplight district at the railroad, warehouse area in old Opelika/Downtown with about 6 different bars and restaurants.

The Auburn University golf club is open to all for food and pretty good. (chef came from Amsterdams) They have a good Sunday brunch.

The restaurant in the Auburn University Hotel and Conf Ctr has good Italian. (forget the name)

I hear the best steak in town is the Bistro but pretty pricey.

  • i also forgot about Ma-Fai's in Opelika.. good Italian.
