***Gene Chizik: 'They will be ready to play'...

  • ***Chizik said this is a very special week and an important week for so many people in this state. He said it's a privelege to be a part of what will be his 7th Iron Bowl.

    "I've been in a lot of rivalries but there's a difference in this game," Chizik said.

    ***Chizik said they will have to play a great game to win against a great Alabama team. He said they had a great day of preparation Monday.

    ***Chizik said he talked to his team about the history of the Iron Bowl. He said the 2010 game was very special but they don't focus on one game. They focus on the passion of the people and what it means. They showed the team a video that focused on the history and importance of the Iron Bowl.

    ***Chizik said they have worked on the noise factor for the team and QB Jonathan Wallace to prepare for Saturday's game in Tuscaloosa. He expect Wallace to prepare has a professional as he usually does. Chizik expects Wallace to get better over the course of the game.

    "There will be ebbs and flows in the game that you have to get through," Chizik said.

    ***No decision on the starting OL until later in the week. Should know more on starters and the health of Christian Westerman by Wednesday or Thursday. Cassanova McKinzy is still banged up but practicing. Nothing new on the safety position until later in week.

    ***Chizik said Alabama's defense doesn't have many vulnerabilities. He said you have to be creative to get first downs and try to get some big plays.

    ***Chizik said he expects his team to be excited and ready to play a good game against Alabama.

  • All I'm asking is that they represent Auburn appropriately in every way and don't embarrass themselves with their effort or preparedness.

    Another good practice I hear...I read where Auburn's practice squad was ranked as the number 2 practice squad in the country. Just behind Kentucky and ahead of Tennessee, New Mexico State and La Monroe. Florida was ranked 92nd because it had such bad practices each week.

    Has anyone else ever dreaded this game so much? In 2009 we knew we would get beat but we expected to be in the game at halftime. Last year we felt like we could hang all the first quarter and maybe half way through the 2nd quarter.

    This year, we have been down 21-0 with 5:00 to go in the 1st quarter in the important games. Lets enjoy the kickoff then go fire up the grill again. WDE!

    Ok... Chizik, as usual, says the team will be 'ready to play'... they had 'a great day of preparation Monday.' And I will already put down that on Wednesday he will say... 'we had a very good practice today.' That's standard. But, I'm not sure what 'great day of preparation,' or 'good practice' really means... Chiz has his own dictionary of phrases that I don't have.

    But, then he started to back up... he said 'there will be ebbs and flows in the game you have to get through'... and he said 'you have to be creative to get first downs and try to get some big plays.' Well, what about the 'smash mouth' offense he runs? Why does he need creativity? Just blow 'em off the line! Run right thru 'em! That's easy. Creativity really belongs to the sissies who run the spread.

    Now, there is one thing that really disturbs me here. Bryan you said... 'He expects Wallace to prepare as a professional.' As a 'PROFESSIONAL'? Whoa... ESPN, Finescum and his betting bammer buddy will have a field day with that! Has the NC2A sent that infamous 'letter of inquiry' yet? Ha! Wait, I'd better not laugh yet. Or, maybe someone should tell Gogue that it's coming. Maybe that will give him some courage.

  • I know it's been an extremely rough season, I've had to suffer through it just like everyone else has. I know everyone is more than tired of hearing the same old crap from chizik. I also know I may have a better chance at hitting the lottery than I do at seeing us pull a historic upset on Saturday. But come on this is still Alabama we are playing, it's still the damn Iron Bowl! We are still Auburn and I want nothing more than to ruin their season even if the chances of that happening are very small. I long ago lost faith in this coaching staff but I still believe these players can find the Auburn Spirit for four quarters and give bammer more than they expected. We'll need some good things to happen early and the ball to bounce our way throughout the game but it could happen. If we can somehow muster up enough courage to tackle well and slow down their running game, get some pressure on AJ on passing downs, and let J Wallace go all Johnny Football on them we can keep it close.
