    DAMN RIGHT IT MATTERS !

  • I know that the players I talked to were sad to hear about Basaccia go, but they were very pleased to know that Fountain would be taking an on-field position now. And a few of the RB's were kind of excited that Horton is moving over to their position. There is already a huge difference in the level of respect that this team has for their new coaches and their excitement is infectious.

Fountain, going back to the Dye years, was the worst on campus recruiting coordinator/secretary Auburn has had. Completely unorganized, didn't understand his job, etc. Just an absolute disaster and a pain for other people to deal with. Let's hope he's much, much better as an on the field recruiter and coach. He can't be any worse than he was in his old position.

You are confused. Scott was a High School Coach until 97 and coached at Central Florida from 97-04. Must be the other Scott Fountain. Maybe his evil twin. Really? I mean Really?

Not really. What that post said was that, going back to the Dye years, we haven't had an on campus recruiting coordinator that did as poorly at his job as Fountain. That does not mean that I thought, or that I said, that Fountain was the on campus recruiting coordinator from '81-2012. For example, Andy Lutz had Fountain's job when Tuberville was here. Someone else had it when Bowden was here.

I'm at a bit of an advantage because I know what I'm talking about. Fountain was extraordinarily unorganized and an asbsolute disaster at his job. Period. Perhaps he'll be a great recruiter. Different skill sets, I suppose.

No, you just didn't read it correctly. As I just mentioned in another post, Andy Lutz was the on campus recruiting coordinator/secretary under Tuberville. At not time did I think or say Fountain had that position. What I did say, and what I'm sure of, is that Fountain was terrible at it. Incompetent is a better word, probably.

How do you know what you are talking about? I have know Scott Fountain for years and he has never been called unorganized. Ever. I think Captain Organization (Malzahn) must think otherwise if he kept him as the lone holdover from Chiz staff, and then promoted him.

Because I dealt with him, as did several others that did the same thing and have done the same thing at Auburn going back to when Dye was there. He was unorganized as hell, and made the job of other people much more difficult than it should have been. And yes, he has been called unorganized, and been called unorganized by competent people that were forced to work with him during the disaster that was the last four years. How you could you possibly hear what everyone said or thought about him?

Well I feel terrible about our Head Coach then. How could a man so detailed and organized as Malzahn hire a go soooo incompetent and unorganized as Fountain? He must not be what we thought. Perhanps Fountain's "unorganization" was a product of his work environment. Obviously that environment was not the best. Actually, that is an understatement. It appears that the entire athletic department was unorganized and incompetent the last few years. Or at the very least, was filled with sour grapes and lead by incompetent people.

I absolutely agree that the work environment made it much harder. In his new job Fountain won't have to do nearly as much coordinating,(if any?) so perhaps he'll be fantastic at it.

Malzahn didn't necessarily see the side of it that others saw when Fountain was Chizik's secretary/OCRC.

That has to be one of the stupidest most completely ignorant posts I have ever seen. You are one clueless individual. Fountain has been the absolute backbone of the recruiting classes under Chizik and pretty much alone held most of this class together during the transition. Fountain's relationships with Alabama high school coaches is far and away better than all of the other coaches on staff combined.
