Well, when you run a 4-3 and two of the major national competitors are often competing with you for the best talent in the same area you're going to often lose out when it comes to linebackers. We should be making our living with great defensive linemen. The 3-4 just adds more possibility for a linebacker to play and they are the center piece really of the defense. They're the real featured position. Consequently, the top linebacker prospects are more often than not going to play where a 3-4 is there as opposed to a 4-3. Besides, the skill set of a great 4-3 linebacker is very unique and I think often harder to find than somebody who would really thrive in a 3-4. On top of that, Chizik never really developed any great linebackers during his stint as head coach. So, it's no surprise we haven't had a great linebacker in a while.
