I know Wayne. He is a great guy and will be missed very much. He took time to teach my son how to play center. Wayne told him that many times he was the smallest lineman on the field, but he was able to hold his own with toughness and technique. He had some great stories of playing in the NFL when he thought making $5,000 a year was big money. He was one of the first players to win arbitration against the NFL enabling him to receive medical treatment for injuries he sustained while playing. He had several knee and shoulder replacements. He showed me the price that these men pay for playing the game. But he said this - it was worth it. He wouldn't trade the glory for anything. He kept his humble and humorous attitude to the end.
