When you consider we played pure freshmen and walk-ons in the secondary, they did a great job. Plus seeing Holland and those other freshmen linemen on defense, you have to think the future is sound. Roof can coach, but doesn't have a wealth of depth or talent to work with. Chris Davis will be a star before he's through. WDE

I think these guys are just kind of clutch. I also think that we've got to work on our DT/DE to remember outside contain.

They think they're "beating" those tackles to the inside... they're getting through the inside gap on purpose... LOL. Right now the interior run game cannot succeed against AU - but the flats are no-mans land for AU.

Roof is doing a fair job of plugging holes not his fault with some talented but lacking experience players. Why fire a coach that can survive with freshmen and walk ons when with a full cupboard with SEC quality red shirts ready to step up he just might be the second coming of Chizik. Perhaps you've noticed. There are some pretty level headed members saying supporting things about Roof. The tell is that in the past some real jerks have slammed him.

I've been a critic of Roof all along. not so much him personally but his defensive scheme of the DBs laying 10-15 yards off receivers and giving up the short pass n the flat and screens. Some here said you just can't change schemes in mid season. But we did and I salute Roof for that. Our DBs played up close lots of time and just said if you beat us you have to go long. Overall the defense was much more agressive and a DB actually got a pick.

Now if we could only see some improvement in special teams but everytime we take a step forward it seems like we take two backwards.

Please let's not forget that less than a year ago we were a frogs hair short of pulling a fan out of the stands to send in and play linebacker? I think that if coach Roof is an issue or a liability it's coach Chizik's responsibility to make any adjustments. Let's all perform our roles as fans and leave the coaching to our VERY good coaching staff please?

I agree! I thought the corners were so much more aggressive and really attck the LOS well. Hats off to them and the coaches. I say that they need to keep it up. If we give up an occasional play like the half-back pass last Saturday, so be it! We actually looked like a defense on a mission and with a purpose.

Keep Ted Roof/ He has brought our defense along as fast as possible considering oour experience level. He inherited a bad situarion and done an excellent job w2ith the talent level he has. It's way too early to think of getting rid of any of our coaches. OBTW we are the only undefeated SEC team and No. 1 in the BCS. What else do you want? I hope we can keep our coaching staff together.
