FWIW....

  • Over the years I have done quite a bit of study on body language. I am not an expert, but know quite a bit about it. With that being said, I have been amazed at how much CGC exhibits TONS of signs of confidence to certain questions and during most all interviews I've seen. For example, in tonights video his arms and hands are always out in front, not close to his chest or crossed. This in itself is a posture of confidence. But, when he places his hands in an all fingertip to fingertip posture with palms open that is a MAJOR sign of three things - totally relaxed, completely in charge, and supremely confident.

You know, it could just be his nature or it could be that he feels really good about things right now. I know it seems quirky or like someone grasping at straws to bring up an issue like body language with a football coach; however, I have used body language techniques in my business for 22 years and I can tell you that it definately helps when communicating with my clients.

Again, take this FWIW, but thought I would share something I found interesting.

P.S. Jeff Grimes is probably the easiest coach to read BY FAR!

  • Interesting thoughts. You are observing a man who is who he is and does what he does regardless of outside circumstances. Somebody who is comfortable in his own skin.

For a stark contrast, you would have had a field day watching nick saban on the ESPN Outside the Lines blueprint for college football or whatever this past weekend.

I bet you are a "Lie to Me" fan.

Body language is so subtle that people can read it without even knowing they are. How people react to other people by their body language seems to be a "hard-wired" instinct. You can train yourself to a point, but there are just too many actions that you cannot train for every emotion all the time.

I did not get to watch Coach Chizik a lot when I saw him on his book tour, but when we shook hands and we looked each other in the eye, I could tell that he was a very confident, very clear conscience-minded man. I like him a lot for what he stands for and the way he lives his life - from my perspective. I hope he retires an Auburn man!
