Ellis Johnson offered Auburn DC job

The people advocating against Ellis Johnson in order to offer the DC position to Tracy Rocker are contradictory at best and clueless at worst. Although Coach Rock is beloved by us Auburn fans, to my knowledge, he's not yet coordinated a defense at any level. On one hand we're (rightfully) questioning Malzahn's hiring due to a small sample size of success as a HC, but are proponents of giving Rocker the DC job INSTEAD of Ellis Johnson, who has coordinated defense longer than I've been alive. I have no doubts that Rocker will one day be a coordinator, but for right now, I hope he will return to Auburn- as the DL coach.

The longer this takes the less chance this has of happening. I'm personally guessing that Rocker will be the next DC even without experience. Why would Joe Whitt Jr. be a better choice?

he has several years in the NFL. Was the quality contron for 1 year which in essence is to review firl and break it down on performance. his secondary has been outrageous.

Good points, I'm not saying I wouldn't like Whitt Jr. either. It was asking an honest question.

See how just a little relaxation can calm the demons inside that child-like brain of yours. I know right now you think the world revolves around a football game, but when you grow up, you'll realize there is a whole big big world out there with lots of things you can do to entertain yourself if you don't like Auburn Football.

An earlier poster or so was questioning why we haven't heard of CBVG lately. My take is that with the poor defense we put on the field this year, he pretty much is spoiled goods. Even with the new folks coming on board, I don't really think CGM would want him around, though I don't doubt he'd do a better job with a different setup. Personally, I wasn't sold on him in the first place - knew too much about him from relatives in Statesboro (Ga. Southern). He wasn't highly thought of there at all! Anyhow, I don't think that's going to be a problem going forward - CGM is apparently looking in a different direction. WDE!!
