  • That Auburn just won a BCS National Championship and finished with a top 3 recruiting class. People really need to get a grip on this recruiting stuff. Just remember where we were three short years ago. Nobody thought Auburn or Gene Chizik could do it, but he did. Everyone thought as long as Nick Saban was across the state, Auburn would never be successful. It just wouldn't be possible to recruit against him was the common belief.

    Yet here we are, not a full month removed from a championship and people are p####ng and moaning because we lost two guys to Alabama. Two guys that were heavy Alabama leans from the beginning anyway. Neither were must-haves for this class. Heck, we may have the best offensive line class in the country without Cyrus. Next time you begin having a panic attack because Alabama barely nosed us out in the recruiting rankings, just take a deep breath and remember all the great times this season brought us.

    Well said sir. I think ultimately that we were able to get CK to consider us and almost commit in only a few weeks is a win. I'm looking forward to the spring and the 2012 recruiting trail :D

  • Amen, When we get the #2 player in the country who's older brother is at Bama and we didn't even get in the hunt until late to commit on national TV. That says a lot about AU, this coaching staff, and our team. Everybody in the country knows who we are and what we represent. We may not get everybody but they want to come see what all the buzz is about on the plains.

    We pulled Greg Robinson right out from under Les' nose (again) and Christian Westerman was committed to Texas (not too long ago). Now they are Auburn men.

    Scout still has us as the number 2 class (above bama with CK and BC) and we are top 5 at 247. Rivals has us 7th.

    Saban as much as said CK is a long term solution in the B'ham News this morning and with Douglas and Fluker we will not see him for 2 years. A lot can happen in two years.

    I remember hearing how a top 20 class was welcomed at AU and " we got who we wanted".

    I wish this site could pull all reference to CK and BC. They no longer need to be on this board.

    This is a tremendous staff and those who choose not to play for them are the losers.

  • We had a great year again, and I expect we'll continue to do well. I just don't like how some things will play out in the media. At the end of the day how it plays out on the field is the only thing that counts.

  • Alabama knows one thing, Auburn is not going away and CGC and staff will fight them for every recruit whether its in our backyard, their backyard or across the country. Its a knew day Bama, Auburn will go toe to toe with UAT and win the majority of the time on the field. What is it, this century Au is what 7-4 since 2000?? Even heavy UA leans, Saban has to fight down to the wire for. WDE

  • We need to have Seban fear the thumb soon. Auburn is and will be a national power now. CGC has the right attitude and totaly embraces the Family All in. Somehting Auburn has missed from its last few coaches.

  • Well I'd love to see 16 in a row to give us an even 50-40-1 lead. But being reasonable I'd love to see at least 6-7 more in a row!

  • Excellent points. We had a truly great class. Met our needs on both sides of the ball. The CK thing was one of those things where you thought you were going to pull off the impossible, and then fell a little short. I watched CK's first announcment live, and remember how excited I was thinking we had done the miraculous, then to have the bubble burst was really disappointing. However, putting things within the light of reason, which is not done too often in this business, you can understand why the family wanted CK to change. They wanted the boys to be together. More importantly from our perspective, we got almost everything we wanted in this class. I do wish we got one more running back commit. Well watching a boring pro football (the super bowl) Miss the TIgers! Can't wait till spring practice!

  • Remember both BC and CK wanted to come here. It was their parents that prevented them from coming - One of the parents was a Saban Kool-aid drinking and we were just too late with the other parents. This is a good lesson learned for the coaching staff and I'm sure it won't turn out this way in the future. This is the beginning of the end for Saban's kool-aid BS. He was a failure in the NFL and his "I know what it takes to get in the NFL" BS has been exposed. I firmly believe Auburn will consistently out recruit UAT for the foreseeable future.

  • I'm not sure I would go as far as to say that Auburn is going to out recruit Alabama every year, but we don't have too. Alabama will always get their share because of who they are. As long as we get our share, stay in the top ten in recruiting year in and year out, and keep working hard we will compete with them. The difference between the #1 and the #10 classes is very small. As long as you're getting those elite players and filling your needs there is no need to worry.

  • Shame from the Ice House told FineScum that CK only committed because of Natale Nunn and her traveling show. He said him and thayer evans are still going to get to the bottom of it.

  • Stars are great but the best thing this team and program have is chemistry. If you look at bammer, thUGA, UTw, USCw, etc, they consistently have had top recruiting classes but they lack the chemistry to make it click on the field. bammer might have won a small recruiting battle, but I like the state of our program much better than the aforementioned! WDE!
