I have no desire to see a movie which portrays Southerns in a negative light.

Haven't seen it yet. Looking foward to at as well.

I guess Resovoir Dogs will always be hard to top for me.

However, True Romance (written by QT) is right up there. After that it would be Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown, Kill Bill, Natural Born Killers (story only), Inglorious Bastards, GrindHouse/Death Proof, From Dusk Till Dawn (screenplay).

Dude is definitely one weasley sick minded little dude, but his flicks are always a must see for me.

  • I haven't seen the movie and I am not sure I want to see it. Somebody mentioned the movie shows Southerners in a negative light. Now we all know there were and still are some questionable people in the south. But at the same time there were and still are plenty of people in the south that are good-hearted folks. Same can be said for the north. My concern with these types of movies is that they tend to "dig up bones". Return to some a feeling of bitterness that doesn't need to be. And then there is the false guilt that many seem to bear for no reason. Does the movie show any southerners in a positive light? I love a "fair and balanced" movie. peace

Do not see the point. Movies are about 2 hours of entertainment. Fargo ridiculed the Northerners in some sense, but talk about a great flick and two hours of enjoyment. I find it humorous when one cannot laugh at one's self or so called background.

Yeah and I bet you watch Fox News too huh? Tell me though, how exactly does one put a positive spin on slavery?

Just tell the WHOLE story, not the part where supposedly everybody in the south beat the hell outta their slaves. Include everyone in the slavery story.....Africans played a role & northerners played a role, negative ones; not just southerners.

And actually I don't watch FOX news. I rarely watch the news (usually NBC) unless it is on in the background. Funny how NBC tried to turn the "hoodie" kid into a racial thing by editing the 911 call. Wonder where that editor is from?

If anybody thinks that movies are only for entertainment then they are naive and/or ignorant about "art". All artists desire to produce cause-effect....emotional responses.

Ignorance and bitterness are heavier chains than actual slave chains ever were.

I didn't say it wasn't a good movie. How would I know? Just pointing out that some people will ASSUME that all southerners were like this man and they were, and are, not. Maybe they will not. That's what I am asking....does the movie provide any hint that all men in the south were not like this guy?

Well I've seen the movie and it is not bashing the south, see it for yourself(if I tried to explain my point I may give something away) you won't be disappointed and would probably think it well done.

Thanks, that's all I was asking.

  • Rather watch Fox News than the liberal propaganda NBC and CNN put out there, I suppose your against the 2nd amendment too huh?

Whether you think you can, or you can't, you are probably right

lol not going there, bro. And as a matter of fact I fully support the second amendment right, now if I was you I'd just shut up because you do not want to get in this discussion with me, it will not end well. Have a nice day and war eagle.

It's not nice to say "shut up" or so I have been told.

  • Went and saw it last night. It is definitely worth the price of admission. It's long but entertaining all the way through. This ranks in the upper half of QT movies for me. I like Jamie Foxx as an actor but I still think he has a ways to go to get on the level of Leo and Christoph Waltz. Samuel did a good job with his character also.

Edit: I thought there was more-than-usual, unexpected humor for a QT movie.
