Which of Auburn's 2012 signees were underrated and have a good chance of exceeding their ranking?

    Bryan Matthews

  • Great assessment BM. I really like the depth we're continuing to build, especially with underrated kids like these.

Thanks. I had a hard time picking just three but wanted to limit it.

  • Hutcherson should be rated higher and will make a big difference with his athletic ability.

do we know yet if he has the grades to enroll?

  • Of those three, our biggest immediate need is a tall, rangy guy who can catch the ball.

I had no idea that Pat Miller was going to be able to come in and run with first team on the offensive line, given the RS guys from last year. With that said, Alex may get on the field as a freshman.

Now that we are building talented depth at most positions (except maybe LB for now) its the guys who work the hardest and the smartest who will get the most playing time.

  • Glad to see some pub on Davis. He is one of my favs fron this class. After seeing him move around I was really skeptical of his listed 6'1' height. But if he is....and im guessing Thig would know....he is gonna be a great cover corner for us.

  • I agree, if we can land some good LB's in this class, cough-cough ( Rueben Foster) no doubt we should have a top 5 "D" in CFB in the near future.

no offense autiger023 but we have signed three great looking LB's in this class. I do agree Foster would be the icing with sprinkles on top of the cake but I'm satisfied with the recruits we have currently committed. If we flip foster then great for AU and him but if not then AU is still in great shape.

  • I think Miller and Callahan will have the best shot at getting on the field since they early enrolled, Kozan will definitely redshirt, He is probably the shortest and smallest of the 2012 OL. From what I read he played in a lower conference in Colorado and will need some time to adjust to this level. Westerman was miles ahead of Kozan at this stage of the game and still had to redshirt last year.

I haven't heard about Hutchersons grades but hope that he can get them to the level needed.

  • Good assessment Bryan.
I know we signed and have committments from some really good LB's but R Foster is a man among boys.
His presence can make a defense average or great.

  • The difference between recruiting now and in the past is absolutely remarkable, as is the difference in covering recruiting. Both are better, and more interesting to the fans. Bryan, a good job done is a tremendous complement for a journalist and you have it in spades. AUC has the two best in the business. MO. Don't expect opposition. If our coaches aren't doing a better job than any we've had since Pat Dye in his prime, I'm lost. Don't overlook another trait the Chizik Staff has displayed. With some astounding minuses in numbers of talented players (they haven't a long record to assess) they have done very well in coaching against some of the best in the business. Auburn has a program that promises more success than we could ever expect.
