Verbal to Alabama. How many do they have now, 100? Who is going to get bumped? Is that it now for their commits? Aren't they at 25 or 26 now?

As much as I hate them, gotta admit, if they land those they have now along with the ones I hear they have undercover... This will be one of the best classes in a very, VERY, long time.

  • As much as it stinks....and the Bammer "process" of over-signing and purging.....they can only put 11 on the field at any given time. Sure hope somebody raises enough hell to get these signing rules changed and enforced.......SOON. WDE!

My guess is that, in the past 30 years, Alabama has "outrecruited" Auburn at least 20 times, probably more. It hasn't shown up on the field.

    nice statement!

Phillip. How can say that? Alabama has gone freaking nuts in recruiting and it does show on the field! I don't care about the past 30 years. I care about the next 5, 10, 15 years. Auburn might finish fine, but I can't get over the lack of momentum Auburn is on at this time following a National Championship season. We are cold as ice right now and I see no sense of urgency by this coaching staff. I am starting to believe CGC Is absolutely LOST.
You mean to tell me that CGC can't get a couple of recruits to commit now and build some POSITIVE VIBE instead of the impression Auburn has crashed and burned. FIVE SEC schools are in the ESPN Top Ten and Auburn is NO WHERE close. WHY? Tell me WHY!
If you don't believe top recruits follow the HOT TEAMS then you are sadly mistaken. This has to stop NOW.
Recruits continue to buy what Saban is selling and it is making me sick. He gets TJY to lie to you, BM, and CGC about his firm commitment, and then embarrasses the hell out Auburn with his orchestrated flip. What has Auburn done in response? We sit a month from NSD and we are stuck at 13-14 commits and NO DC, and NO OC in place.

How would you or I know how much sense of urgency the coaching staff has? They've been on the road all week. If you choose to get upset about the decision teenagers make, that's up to you. I don't and won't. I'll gauge how Auburn did in recruiting on Feb. 1. If they had a disappointing year, they had a disappointing year, though we really won't know until we see how they pan out. We'll see if that happens. I don't think they expect it to happen, though they won't base it on rankings or stars. The last two classes certainly weren't disappointing. By the way, T.J. Yeldon didn't lie to me. I've never talked to him.

I know. I need to lighten up some, but you can't blow this off with your last 30 year comment Phillip. Auburn needs good news. Since the TJ flip it has been mostly bad.

  • Just my two cents so take it for what it is worth. We are in top 15-20 in recruiting at the moment without an OC or DC being named. That could be a factor on why it appears to be a "slow" recruitung year for some. I think we are doing pretty good considering. We are in the running for alot of the remaining 4 & 5 star talent. We will get a few and I think we will end up in/0r near top 10.

Some were looking for a bright spot, consider this...even after we lost a ton of talent after the NC season...including our Offensive and Defensive MVPs, nearly all of our O-Line and many on th D-Line, we still ended up with a winning season and won our bowl game. Next year, without losing nealy as much star power and loads of talent in (will be) Sophmore and Junior classes, we are set up for a good run over the next couple of years.

I know we all love Auburn. Some of these 18 year kids don't understand. You can't control their thinking so don't go crazy trying. Control the things that you can control....your support for Auburn.

Dude, are you capable of rational thought? If you don't care about the last 30 years, that's fine - but don't call out Philip for making a (correct) statement just because you don't care about what he is talking about. Philip is absolutely correct - many, many years Alabama has won the signing day game but it hasn't translated into as many victories on the field.

If you don't want to look at history, that's fine - but don't call someone wrong just because you're not interested in looking at it from his perspective.

PM, this maybe a difficult question to answer. What is the success rate between 5*s vs 4*s and 3*s in college football especially for Auburn? Seems to me and I have no stats that many a times those 3*s with a red shirt year turn out pretty damn good.shrug

Blow what off? Again, kids go where they go. If T.J. Yeldon wanted to go to Alabama, that's where he should have gone. I still say, when Dye was here, Bowden, Tuberville, now Chizik, Alabama almost always had the higher ranked recruiting classes. And that has not shown on the field. I know this: Auburn has lots of talent in the freshman and sophomore classes, lots of players that eventually can help win championships. I suspect they'll get some more this year. I don't know what else to say.

We can't completely control which recruits come to Auburn.

We can control that we make sure we have the best on the field position coaching and conditioning program in the country. In addition, we must make sure that our program is doing everything it can to convince our juniors to stay in school and provide the critical senior leadership we need so badly. We will get our fair share of football players, let's make sure we get the absolute most out of the one's we have.

Not shown on the field? They are playing in their second national championship in 3 years. From 2008 until now, their record is 47-6. Thats showing it on the field. They always outrecruited us but they never had a decent coach.

Totally agree. We are getting out recruited big time right now. The only history that matters is what the current HCs have done. We don't need to have the top class but we do need to have top 5 classes if we want to cosistantly compete/win championships. It's still doable this year but the odds are getting smaller. The "NFL pipeline" Kool Aide seems to be the ticket. Let's finish strong CGC. WE!

To the casual observer, it seems that they get everyone they want. Even if committed some where else (Yeldon), and we are in catch up mode. That is probably what concerns most people that get worked up about recruiting.

  • We can't obsess about bammer and their recruiting. Yes, they are killing it in recruiting and on the field. Based on "rankings", their class is one for the ages - fine. But that doesn't affect what we do nor how we do it. Every time we compare ourselves to them, we validate their "little brother" comments.

That doesn't mean we shouldn't demand excellence, either. It's the attitude that wins championships - that nothing else is the goal.

Dead on Phillip! I have watched AU recruiting for 30 years and also am fairly sure that AU usually only gets 2-3 of our last 10-12 "gotta have's" over the years but typically we hold our own within the best conference. The best part of the recruiting process for me is watching how our less heralded recruits perform over 4-5 years vs the ones that "got away". To say i will be watching Yeldon more closely than if he was a uat lock forever would be an understatement.I also cant wait to see how Robinson or any other back performs for us in comparison. That said, I agree we have to step it up a notch as the SEC is hitting on all cylinders. I also wonder which players might end up at AU after/because of our new offensive and defensive hires; we know who we lost, lets see who we gain.
