Craig hire: Recruits react

  • And so it begins. Mobile should be a fun battle to watch for 2014.

  • Wow! CGM has really brought together an All Star Staff!!! Craig was one of my favorite players as a kid, I still have his autograph hanging on my wall! Looks like Auburn will competing against the Alabama Elephants sooner than we thought! WDE!

I wasn't intentionally dissing those guys. I just KNOW what I've heard about the recruiting prowess of the former Auburn guys. The other two may be even better.

RG was one of the original super recruiters, and of course DC has been one of the only coaches who routinely takes top players from in state.

The problem with the former staff was developing and retaining. Lets hope these guys, who are a little older, can do better with that.

I didn't mean for it to sound the way it did really. My apologies on that one good sir. I was just trying to say that Harbison and Smith are great recruiters in their own right too and from what I've seen of Rhet Lashlee he's a very good recruiter but the jury is obviously still out on his resume in that regard. Gus also is an outstanding recruiter a fact that people seem to forget about him. The man brings some of the top skills guys out there to his team. In addition, Tim Horton will be a big time recruiter for Auburn as well and I consider him at least in the top 50 if not top 25 of recruiters all over the country personally.

The only recruiters I have a question about is J.B. Grimes and Ellis Johnson because Johnson has not been highly touted as a recruiter and I would think that if J.B. Grimes was a great recruiter he would have been more hyped than what he has been so far in my opinion. Not saying either one of those guys will do a bad job I just simply wonder how well they'll do but they seem to be the weakest links. That said, this staff recruiting wise is on par with the previous staff if not even a bit better. I think you will see a top level of development too while Gus is at Auburn. He's a details guy. He loves the details and fundamentals of the game.

Those are the kind of guys that win championships when they have top recruiting too. That's what's coming to Auburn. I truly think Auburn will be a force with Gus Malzahn but I expected nothing less than 9 wins this year. So, I'm believing this season will suck so if it does for whatever reason it won't hurt so badly this time around for me.
