Cooper Bateman has committed to Alabama...

Cooper Bateman's offensive coordinator at Cottonwood High in Salt Lake City, Utah, Scott Cate, issued the following statement from Bateman:
"This has been a great time in my life, I have had the rare opportunity to be able to choose from many great schools that would allow me to get a college degree and continue to play the game that I love. This has been a very difficult decision only because I was able to meet and get to know so many wonderful coaches at so many great universities. I have chosen to attend the University of Alabama. I am honored that I will get to learn from Coach Saban and Coach Nussmeier and will get to represent Alabama, the state and the University. I want to thank my coaches at Cottonwood for all they have done for me and mostly to my parents who have made this all possible."

It's May people. Let's not act like this kid was the only QB on our board, please.
I'll take a few good LBs before I get worked up over a QB in May.
I would not give this kid another thought and move on.
Auburn and Alabama rarely have QB battles over the same recruit, but it appears some might be making a case here.

Let's not forget that we have a stud freshman QB in Zeke Pike, that Coach Loeffler is pretty-high on thus far. I do agree that Bateman will be molded into the game manager style of QB that the troll likes, thus hurting his own future.

I just watched his film and was underwhelmed. He is average at best but looks better than he really is due to the level of competition. Opelika's JV team is bigger, stronger, and faster than those Utah boys. I think I found one black athlete that he has ever played against. I wonder what will be going through his head when he is lined up against Auburns 6-4 240 pound Linebackers instead of some 5-7 180 pound Mormom pansy. I'd take Jeremy Johnson over this kid in a second. War Eagle!

It is not where we start that counts, but where we finish. Watching this kids film is impressive. He also is an excellent student. But someone else said it all...on to the next person. Remember this will be a low number recruiting year as opposed to the last three. We have 8 of maybe 19 for the year and there are lots of schools including Alabama who would like to have some of those 8 recruits.
