specifically one that can run between the tackles.
obviously our FB is a beast and OMac has the corners for us. Is Mason the guy that lines up in the eye? blakeley and grant have been held out of scrimmages for the most part all camp. what's the scoop on those two?
-Jovon isn't here.
-Grant isn't a true RB.
-McCalebb is a spread/3rd down guy.
-Blakely is the most talented but has to walk on eggshells 24/7, so his talents will never been seen in a game (think Blackmon, Slaughter, etc.).
That leaves Tre Mason as the only true RB to get significant carries between the tackles.

With a bruiser for a fullback leading the way you don't have the same need for a big running back. All you need to do is give the ball to that fullback on occasion so the linebackers have to pay attention to him. The running back can follow his blocking.

"you're so vain, I'll bet you think this post is about you, don't you? Don't you?"
Blakeley seems to have turned the corner with the coaches and will add to Mason yards. They say that Grant does not have the vision or cutting ability of a every down back, but he is amazingly fast. I suspect he will be used much like Omac was early. It doesn't take much vision or cutting to run down the sidelines for 20 yards. I know, that's what I did in HS.
At 122 pounds, extra light weight pads, kangaroo soccer shoes (unheard of in 1963) and I could fly. Bill Oliver had me get as much yardage as I could and get out of bounds before I got creamed.

I was going to put a witty joke here, but I forgot bama fans still use picture books. So I thought I'd expedite the process for you...

fried chicken haha, should be chicken little!
I was thinking more along the lines of chicken
I for one hope this offense is more than just three yards in a cloud of dust Power I football. If that's all it is, we're dead. Omac provides many threats. Catching the ball out of the backfield, speed, and he's running behind a true fullback when inside.
I wouldn't be too worried until we see the character of the offense. I know the coaches want to run the ball. That doesn't necessarily mean handing it to the tailback up the middle on each and every play. If it turns out that's what it is, I'll be worrying with you.
I think it will be more creative than that.
What do you mean walk on eggshells, is Blakely scared to get hit?
I agree that we will not have any 1,000 yard rushers, but I realy believe that O-Mac and Mason both rush for 700-850 apiece with O-mac breaking the century mark for all purpose with his receiving yards. I also think Blakely and Frazier rush for another 200-300 apiece. Add it all up, and we'll have one of the top rushing offenses in the conference without having a single 1,000 rusher.
