"you're so vain, I'll bet you think this post is about you, don't you? Don't you?"
My dad was USN fm ARK so I grew up with few dreams of college but loved football. As a kid I cheered for "utk", "uark", and USNA. I joined the Navy out of HS. After 6 yrs I was selected for a college officer program. I had a choice of 22 colleges. I wanted the SE US, which had AU, om, and vu as choices. I put them in alphabetical order on my selection sheet. I got AU, got a map to find out were it was, and headed east from my duty station in SDGO. That was 1972. I attended the utchatt game and watched us beat them 14-7. Not too impressed. I met a girl who needed a ride to the utk game in Birmingham. She was convinced AU would win. AU won 10-6 and she let me know all the way back. That began my lifelong love for AU football, amplified by the IB that yr. I returned to AU in 1989 for Masters and got to see the 1st IB in JHS - also great. This year is the 40th year anniversary of that great team. Punt bama Punt.
