Don't get me wrong - I love golf and watching the pro tour but I never thought I would live long enough to see a 2 page thread on this site and have it focused on the AD's performance with golf as a main part of the discussion. If this doesn't give an indication of how bad our overall athletic performance is nothing will.
My problem with JJ is he is out of the old culture of Lowder is king and I think everyone who was involved in the BOT and any part of the athletic department from those days should be gone. I don't even like Housel still involved in any way. He didn't have the Ba... to just say no to the famous jetgate trip and he is still glorified as what it means to be an Auburn Man. My thoughts about being an Auburn Man still includes having a sense of ethics.
I considered golf performing pretty well?
I thought that both the men and women both finished top 25? that is pretty good, not elite but still very good considering how many great programs there are in the country.
Women No. 6 (highest SEC team), men No. 13
that's pretty damn elite then.
The golf teams did fine. If Jacobs is the right person to continue to lead the athletic department is a different subject altogether.
I totally agree but go read the thread I referenced. That's where PM and others got into the whole discussion that I'm referring to. I'm proud of the golfers and their achievements but that isn't the point.
Great, someone else launched another "I hate Jay Jacobs" thread. Maybe our great administrators should just save everyone the trouble and create two badges - one pro Jacobs, the other anti Jacobs. That way, we wouldn't have to have a million threads on this, we could all just look at each others' badges.
JohnCook, just a hunch, but I bet you don't know David Housel do you??? I'm pretty sure there is no decision he ever has or ever will regret more than the one he made to get on that airplane. Yeah, he's fallible - just like the rest of us - but that doesn't mean he doesn't love Auburn with every fiber of his being.
