“they ain't got nothing but people...Alabama mystique...Georgia mystique...they’ve done it with people. Hell, we’ve got people, too.”Pat Dye
You didn't see game last night did you? To blitz a shotgun QB that throws short passes in less than two seconds like he does only give the receivers more openings. It make more sense to rush 3 and frop 7 and try to cover out holes in our zone.
What?! No, that's what gets teams garbage QBs always looking like Aaron Rodgers against us! We don't have the athletes to just sit back in zone and good to react quick/well enough to make plays.
With us facing a quick pass, shotgun offense, you have to bring everybody on the defense closer to the LOS and disguise blitzes so he quick read QB doesn't know where pressure will be coming from or who is going to be dropping into coverage.
We also know he is a lefty, so we want to force him out of the pocket to the right side of the field. Come on, folks. Football is not rocket science.
Who do you think we see? (new faces)
"Get in where you fit in." Life is, Too Short TL;DR
Apparently, it's Nuclear Physics for us, this year.
Doesn't seem to be a good idea to change anything...the kids need to execute! CVGs D is pro and they have been in position most of the time. They need the urgency to finish and I believe they will figure it out but it needs to be the next couple weeks! If we change schemes then confidence lost in the coaches from the players but its only 2 disappointing games in...give it a few more. Adjustments are sure to be made but not philosiphy
I don't mean to imply they are completely going to a different type of defense, I mostly mean you will see us doing the things that have worked for us more frequently.
The QB will have to make great throws under pressure with a DB in much tighter coverage, and without his WRs getting a free release into their timing routes.
ULM is the perfect opponent to begin to implement more of this aggressiveness. Look at BVG's defenses at UGA and they are characterized by this.
I hope this is true, because that is what I expected to see when he came in and it has yet to be the case.
Fearless and true.
If you had read my post I said drop 7 to cover the holes in our zone. What I saw yesterday was zone all day with holes all over it. We won't get any pressure on this guy rushing 4, he gets rid of the ball too quickly. If we blitz that leaves even bigger holes in the secondary. I agree with bringing guys up close to the line since he throws short most of the time. The flip side is that forces the corners onto islands. Can ours cover single???
If the starting DBs at Auburn University aren't good enough to man up the receivers at Louisiana Monroe University, they should not have a scholarship to Auburn University in the first place, much less be one of our 11 defenders on the football field.
