Oregon made it to the National Championship game in 2010, came up short ;)
Oregon made it to the Rose bowl in 2011, won it.
Oregon is a top team in the country in 2012, sights set on a National Championship game
Auburn: BSC National Champions in 2010. Auburn also sees its 3rd Heisman Trophy winner, Cam Newton.
Auburn: 8-5 in 2011. Bowl Victory against Virginia in the Chic-fila Bowl
Auburn: 1-5 in 2012. The worst Auburn product I've ever seen on the field.
Right now, I'd take Auburn's 3 years without a doubt.
Don't forget, we could have lost that National Championship. That game came down to the wire, with Oregon squaring the ball game 19-19 with a TD and a 2-point conversion in the back of the endzone, with minutes left in the game. The game was up for grabs, but we marched down the field, and took that damn National Championship. Put it in the books, right now, Oregon doesn't have that.
So right now, its gotta be Auburn. Be thankful for what we have, yes this is a very poor season, but we will overcome it. In the future we will see plenty more dominant teams come through. We will see many more NFL stars come through. This is Auburn. This is why we are so pissed that we are 1-5, and that it is unacceptable, and whatever the problem is, needs to be fixed. I have faith that it will be fixed, and what I just said will come true.
However, if Oregon does go and win the National Championship game, I'm gonna have to come back and change my thoughts on it!
As much as I loved the National Title in 2010, I'd honestly take Oregon over the past 3 seasons. I'd rather be relevant over a long period of time over one magical season. It appears Oregon competing is the expectation. Our 2010 season at least at this point appears to be the exception. So I would much rather have double digit win seasons on a consistent basis and a chance to win it all consistently or at least be in the thick of it; over the one-off Championship campaign. Now if they end up getting some of NCAA punishment, my position might change. But if I had to choose 3 years of competing and being in the thick of the title chase EVERY year, then I would take that over the highs/lows of the past 3 Auburn seasons. Especially the PAINFUL lows of this one. WDE as always though.
NC...I would live through this again for another one.
I Believe Auburn and Love IT...4 Life!
You should prepare yourself to live with the consequences of your decisions, whatever they may be.
I'm so torn. At the end of the season, I will probably eat my words and say the same thing. But I guess in the mist of this, I am on the other side of the fence. Once 3-9, 4-8 or however this ends, it will just be another year in the books. 2010 will always be WAY more than that. So I guess I may go ahead and retract that statement now. Lmao. But I still wish we could have our cake and eat it too. It's a shame that we got the talent to be a top 10 team starting next season for the foreseeable future, but I just do not trust this staff to develop and coach that talent in order to make that come true on the field where it matters. Signing great talent is all well and good, but coaching and developing that talent is WHERE it TRULY counts.

1. Those seasons won't exist much longer at Oregon, as far as the NCAA is concerned.
2. Coach Dye had us relevant most of his tenure here. We never technically won a national championship, and then I got to see us win one during my lifetime.
After 3 undefeated seasons.
I'd definitely take Auburn over Oregon, and I'd definitely say get rid of our HC, as well, at year's end.
Me too. I'd take our Tigers. That 2010 NC removed a 53 year old monkey off our back and a chip off our shoulder. It brought us another Heisman, another undefeated season, and at least one year of witnessing our warped archrival's fanbase completely come apart and show their true colors. Too bad that the 2004, 1993, 1988, and 1983 teams did not get to enjoy the apex of the college football world. Each of those teams were quite special also, and came very close.
Auburn, without question, over Oregon or anyone else for that matter...
Auburn Guy, fantastic question. My answer is Auburn.
Seriously, raise your hand if you think Oregon is winning a national championship this year. Ok, I can't actually see you raising your hand but I'm betting not many went up anyway. Alabama right now would destroy Oregon right now and have Mariota crying for his dad. Every time Oregon plays a team with any speed they struggle/lose. Last year against LSU I remember the RB...James, break through a hole and you can even tell in his body language he was thinking "GONE!"...then an LSU LB tracked him down in about .00002 seconds.
Assuming no sanctions come Oregon is in a great spot with a super rich alum in a conference where defense is a premium. It's a perfect storm for that hyper fast offense. And it will never win a national championship.
Auburn stinks this year but the 2000s have been fantastic for us. And going forward will be too, I believe!
So long answer to an easy question. Auburn. All day. Every day. 22-19 was the only Auburn game to this day I shed a tear at and I wouldn't trade that for 10 straight 10 win seasons.
You grad, bro?
Ours was a more compelling story to be truthful. Superstar athlete comes out of literally Nowhere, Texas Juco and turns an 8 win team into a undefeated team with his superhuman like athletic moves. And a $200,000 pay for play, if true (which it was thought to be) scandal is a much bigger than the boring program violations that Oregon might have committed.
Either way, screw em' Proved innocent, won the national title, and the rest of the country can kiss our Auburn asses.
I was going to put a witty joke here, but I forgot bama fans still use picture books. So I thought I'd expedite the process for you...
Auburn from day one.
