Is a good idea??
This is chizik all over again and people are cheering it on?!
Un freakin believable
Just because you guys worship the little guy does NOT mean his assistant coaches are gonna beat him.
"hey let's roll the dice again and expect a different result"
Just Auburn being Auburn
"you're so vain, I'll bet you think this post is about you, don't you? Don't you?"
You are wrong. We need to focus on Auburn, not Saban or Bama. That is most of our problem. Hiring an assistant at Florida is working well for them and IMO Smart is a better coach than Muschamp, with a better temperament.
Mark Richt, Will Muschamp, Bob Stoops, Jimbo Fisher, Chip Kelly were all assts. with no previous HC experience, I'd say they've done ok for the most part. Phil Fulmer, Mike Gundy are a couple of others.....no doubt there's more that did just fine as a HC at a major D-1 school with no previous experience.
Not saying we should hire Smart although we could do far,far worse. JMO, he's going to be a heck of a HC very, very soon.
+1 My sentiments exactly. Not crazy about Malzahn either.
There are a few coaches that I would take above Smart though I don't think Smart would be a terrible hire, or risk, whichever you prefer to call it. The guy has been beside the best coach the country has seen in the past 15 years or so. He has to have learned something in the process.
Chizik had head coach experience. Problem was, he was 5-19.

If you cant be honest....whats the point of being anything?
It is probably as good or better of an idea as you or 95% of the other people (includes me) have regarding who to hire. People who have never hired any one and, more specfically, who have never coached, hired a coach, interviewed or met any of the canidates mentioned by PM and Ron probably do not necessarily have the best ideas. That does not mean they cannot or should not have a favorite or think someone would be better than someone else. Everyone has an opinion unfortunately only a few really count.
Criticism of JJ regarding his hires is certainly justified based on end results so I hope the the "committee" does provide solid and strong guideance to him and JG, By the way, I do not have a strong favorite since there are pluses and minuses to all of them. I am just hoping the "committee" does their job correctly and makes the right decision this time.
You are crazy i would take Smart over any body i have heard mentioned other than Stoops.
