With us going head to head on so many recruits year end and year out..Plus the fact that with so many ex AU coaches/players at FSU, FSU is now able to recruit this State a whole lot better. Folks the fact is we are running a distant third in one of the hottest recruiting beds in the whole SEC, the Mobile area. Bama & FSU have taken the lead. I remember when we had Joe Whitt Sr., we controlled the Mobile area. Playing Clemson is good and all, but really, how many times do we go head to head with them as compared to FSU. I think by reestablishing our rivalry with FSU and beating them on the football fields, it will in turn help us beat them on the recruiting battle fields. To me it’s a shame we don’t play them more as often as we recruit against each other already. What do yall think? I wonder if there is a way we can contact Jay Jacobs and request we start playing them?
I'm an Auburn man and I'm darn proud of it!
I think spreading the idea that their OC is leaving and taking D. Craig with him would be a great start.
Your outside source.
Oh no he didn't
that is one of the things i have always loved about auburn ... who has as many good rivalries as auburn? maybe notre dame? not only do we have our existing rivalries within the sec, but when you add in clemson, ga tech, fsu ... those are pretty solid historical rivals.
as far as recruiting goes ... i am more pragmatic about it. if we are going to lose bluechip recruits, i would just as well them go to a team we wont play. these are some seriously good looking recruits ...
I would hate it. I have a daughter (and 2 step-kids) at FSU. Would be too much drama.
Alabama fans love Alabama football
Auburn fans love Auburn University
All for it. Had some pretty good games with them back in the day. Haven't played them in awhile and it would be good to renew that.
FWIW (which probably isn't much from a Nole): I'd love to see this on the schedule. Live less than 90 minutes from AU and would love to see a Nole/Tiger matchup in Auburn. Good programs not far apart in distance.
BTW - Is the Guthries still open?
I can't stand their stupid "War Chant" (Nanh, Nanh, Nanh-Nanh-Nanh) chop.
Yes. I was just trying to figure out what to get for dinner too. Guthrie's it is.
Huddles are for rookies.

Hilarious...I dated a girl in college (way back) that lived on Debarbeleben St (sp?) I remember going up to Guthries a lot before hitting a party...there's one in Tally too.

I would defiantly be in favor for it. I think it would actually help us in recruiting once the recruits see what Auburn would do to FSU on the field.
I would rather see us resume the Ga Tech rivalry. I believe it's still the 2nd longest rivalry AU has. And the Atl metro area is an extremely fertile recruiting ground - and only 100 miles from campus.
"Brick by brick, my citizens. Brick by brick"
I'm with Philip on scheduling non-conference games. I would never lose a non-con if I made the schedules.
Now, with SEC expansion, I am firm in that emotion. I would schedule directional schools only from here on out.
It's always fun to play a great non-con team, but it is a big blow when you lose one. Had we played and beaten
Memphis or Troy or Tulane this year instead of losing at Clemson, we would have finished ranked in the top 15
with a 9-4 record. Our losses would've been to SEC schools ranked #1, #2, #5 and #19. It would've helped us
in pre-season rankings for 2012, and recruiting. We have to drop the tough non-cons sooner rather than later.
We can wait to beat FSU in a bowl game.
Hating uga since 1892.
Would much rather have that back than the joke of a "rivalry" against Clemson
Let's do it
I would support a limited renewal of the FSU series if we are placed in the east and play UF every year.

I like the idea in theory, but I don't know if it's a good idea. You're right, we definitely compete head to head with them for prospects in that area, and I think Tallahassee is a fun gameday atmosphere. But, if we are about to go to a 9 game conference schedule and we are guaranteed to play Alabama, LSU, and UGA every year, I think it would be really hard on our team to play FSU every year too.
