Fearless And True
What I don't understand then is why is he clear to play in the Iron Bowl if there is a chance he is ineligible. Suspicion alone is reason enough to be benched while the process is ironed out. By the NCAA not recommending he sits, that tells me there is no such suspicion about his eligibity. I have hard time reconciling the two stances...
Hurrican, it sounds like this is not a clear cut thing and it just depends on the agent issue. It tells me they believe no money was paid, Cam didnt know and AU did nothing wrong. The only way they can ding us at all is to play the agent issue. I just think it is hard to say he is an agent when he said he wasnt getting paid and he went to and played at MSU. Also, doesnt he have to enter into a contract with Cam since Cam is over 18-19? Cam's dad cant enter into an agreement with a real agent when Cam declares for the draft. I guess Andre Smith's Uncle did something like this? But Andre must have known about it or his Uncle received money?
"Listen, Carnell Williams has been an inspiration to this football program and to this university. We're going to miss him when he's gone."
I have a hard time seeing how Rogers could be considered an agent since he apparently did not have any contact with any school other than MSU. There's a term for an "agent" who only represents his "client" at the school the "agent" happened to play for: Booster.
You guys have very successfully made both sides of the argument.
There will definitely be a rewriting of the rule book in the future for this situation.
Maybe they will add a classification called "sleazy pimp"
Information in support of the "agent" label are the statements by Bell that he never heard Cecil ask for $, but Rogers did all the talking. This is one time that I wish there was hard evidence Cecil actually asked Bell or Bond for $. Do I have the "facts" wrong here?
Well the statement, " AU is still of the VERY strong belief that Cam will remain eligible for the rest of the season" makes me feel better, at least for a few hours. :) I just wish this could have been put behind us once and for all before the Iron Bowl...
I just watched an ESPN tool (Scott Van Pelt) come out and say (paraphrasing) "One thing that makes a scrutinized person look more guilty is the absence of he or someone for him coming out and defending himself against the allegations. Well today an attorney representing the Newtons did just that"
and then they played the attorney clip. Slight change of stance?
