Not an easy question for two reasons. Rational and fans put together are hard to define. . And what would satisfy is a tough question by itself. Improvement over 2011 might not do it. Nine four would be an improvement and really not so satisfying. Ten three would probably stimulate some gushing on our part, but, little delirium. Are we looking for a sea change in how Auburn plays v 2009 through 2011? I think so. Chizik and staff have built a roster, and the play should show a difference over a roster short of talented experience. In my opinion, this season at the moment has more talent than 2010 with the exception of Cam and Nick of course. And with the numbers of talented players ready to play for VanGorder, the defense may be better than anything we've seen for years. A sea change in the way Auburn plays the game would be accpted as a welcome improvement with Nine or ten wins. It could leave us happy with 2012, and hot to go into 2013. Amateurs thinking.
A 9 win season and adding the 10th in a bowl game would please me for this season. As for next season, that would be a big disappointment. Next year will be the year I raise expectations back to titles.
This. With two completely new systems and a pretty inexperienced o line a 9-3 season with a bowl win would be pretty good in my eyes. Next year anything less than the SEC Championship and BCS Bowl will disappoint. It's always disappointing to lose, but you have to take into consideration all AU has to overcome. People saying anything less than 11-1 and all that don't seem to realize that having brand new coordinators in place makes it harder on the guys to learn new systems.
I was going to put a witty joke here, but I forgot bama fans still use picture books. So I thought I'd expedite the process for you...
9-3. Don't really care about the bowl game unless it's the BCS. It's almost like a different season.
Although, five losses is a realistic possibility. If are young guys aren't ready for the big stage and flop in the Clemson game, and if we lose to both Arkansas and UGA. (In this scenario i'm assuming bama and LSU will be losses.)
