LITTLE BROTHER WITH SABAN ENVY.
Please do not hire Smart!
I believe Gus is more "proven" and would be less of a fracture within the fanbase, although many would still believe that we settled for Gus over Petrino.
Either way, I would have NO problems supporting GUS.
Gus would be way worse IMO.
Can we combine all these threads into one official thread?
IMO Gus would be a good hire...
I know Gus' offense is very detailed and efficient, but am I wrong in thinking Smart would be more structured (and disciplined)? I don't want to throw Gus on top of what has transpired at Auburn recently, but it gives me pause as to whether he is ready to run a big-time program. Not because of experience, but of what I see as Smart coming in with more structure needed to run an entire program. Fair?
I think Malzahn's offense would instantly be a stop-gap, but just think Smart could set down the parameters for long term success quicker/better.
"you're so vain, I'll bet you think this post is about you, don't you? Don't you?"
This is your opinion and that is all. I personally have no little brother syndrome but obviously you do. You are the one that has a problem hiring a quality coach because of where he came from. Dye coached a Bama. Bill Oliver coached at Bama. Wayne Hall played there. But you are too proud to admit it is a good program. You have the complex not those who are willing to hire a good coach regardless. I want Petrino - would have loved Bob Stoops if that was ever legit. BUT I HAVE NO SABAN ENVY just because I support a coach. I bet you would have loved Jimbo - well he coached with Saban at LSU. Do those supporters have Saban envy too.
I never talk negative about other people's post but this was extremely foolish.
