Happy days are here again!!!!
From one of the most well respected posters elsewhere:
Since everyone is giving their opinion, I'll give mine from a different perspective.
I like Chizik. He is a good man and I appreciate all he has done for Auburn. But when you "lose a team", and this has certainly happened, a change should be made. And it will be made. Until then, I will pull for him and hope for the best.
When the position comes open, there is no doubt in my mind we should go after Bobby Petrino. I have known him for 11 years and consider him a friend. Has he made mistakes and some bad choices, absolutely. In that same 11 year span, we have all made mistakes and bad choices. It does not mean we are pathetic or a POS, as many on here have portrayed BP.
Contrary to what some believe, he's a good guy. Thats not what i think, thats what i know. Everyone on this board can debate with me all day long and rely on the 3 incidents. But my observation is actually knowing him for many years. On recruiting trips (i was there on several) he was great with the families and kids. The players at Auburn respected him and really liked him. Yes, when it comes to football, he is intense. And on the field, he is not a "nice" guy. But off the field, he is a good guy, calm and collected. No, he does not have the most outgoing personality, but he's certainly not a jerk.
But beyond this, he is a great football coach. One of the few in the country feared by other coaches. He is the best offensive gameplanner and playcaller in the game. That's not just my opinion, but defensive coaches everywhere. There is no doubt in my mind he would be very successful at Auburn. I think we need to ask ourselves who is available that would come to Auburn and win. I honestly cannot think of another homerun hire. Paul Rhoads or someone similar would be a worse media backlash than BP.
I'm just giving my opinion like everyone else. No need to argue with me, it will not change what I know or believe. Ive already read most post on here regarding Petrino. Everyone already knows where people stand on this board. Im not going to respond or try to reason with anyone on an internet board. As I said, this is just an opinion like everyone else. And mine is that we should hire BP.

The people saying "no way" to Petrino need to post some realistic alternatives. We have to hire a proven head coach. Petrino is it
I was going to put a witty joke here, but I forgot bama fans still use picture books. So I thought I'd expedite the process for you...
