Based on the Vandy baseball results are we heading for the SEC cellar in all 3 sports in the same class year?
I hope not.
Alabama fans love Alabama football
Auburn fans love Auburn University
Way way too early to tell in baseball yet. Long season to go and it was Vandy... They are the number two team in the nation for a very good reason. I don't think we are great in baseball this year but I don't think you can already say we are in the cellar because we lost to Vandy.
kick 'em in the ass, big blue.
Really? With 27 games left, they are headed for the cellar because they lost to the No. 2 team in the country? If they'd played Tennessee and won three would that mean they were headed for first place?
Season gets no easier next weekend down on the bayou. Better hope we at least come out of that one with ONE win. But very doubtful that that will happen.
I know we are only one series in to the sec play...but if they are the top....we are not even close. Sad part is that our pitching for the most part was better this weekend than it has been in a long time.....still lost all three. Complete teams win games with both. Our problem is that we can pitch our faces off...but get zero hitting. The next time we get gear hitting and zero pitching help.
And never forget this team got railed by kennesaw st AT HOME. So I love the optimistic approach. But we look very similar to what we have shown the last three seasons. Inconsistent to say the very least.
If you cant be honest....whats the point of being anything?
I'm not optimistic or not, but Auburn isn't the worst team in the SEC and won't finish last. They play the apparent two best teams in the league right out of the box so that is what it is. Losing to Kennesaw State means nothing and whether it was 8-2 or 2-1 means absolutely nothing.
I think we need to win one this weekend but it still wouldn't be the end all. Vandy is the best team in the SEC it looks like. Yes, we got swept by them but it's way too early to say that we are in the cellar in baseball. No doubt we need to improve to be competitive though. I just want to give those guys a chance before I write them off as no good. A week or so more and we really will know where our team may finish. Last year we started pretty hot and ended up sucking.
We make a ton of mistakes that look like basic fundamentals... like who covers first on a bunt, booting ground balls, and crappy base running. You can't beat a team that is better than you without being great at all three
I understand lower tier teams can beat you any given day. However it has been years since we looked sec like in non conf play. That's all I'm sayin PM. And our first big weekend at home and we get through two games with zero hits into the 7th inning.
No hitters are more rare than the pink footed seagul. But our team was 7 outs from being no hit two straight nights. And our fielding took lumps when we could have really used them to just make the routine play.
Like I said I think teams that are going to be good...are good by now. Vandy is good. Lsu is good. Two sweeps and you can kiss the division championship away without even getting warmed up. From that point on you play from behind. That's all I'm sayin. Not trying to be argumentative PM. But your dear friend is sorely missed by this Tiger.
