We have confirmed that assistant head coach/wide receivers coach TrooperTaylor will not be part of new head coach Gus Malzahn's staff. He was given the news this morning.
It is unlikely anyone from the previous staff will be retained.
Can he fire some message board posters too? I'm ready to begin the list...
If Gus intends to change the culture at Auburn, it makes sense that the guy that has great influence on the culture might have to go, even if he recruits well.
The "great influence" is my own guess and opinion, and is arguable. But we all know his personality, his influence and relationship with many of the players.
It's hard to believe that as charismatic and embraced as he is, that he doesn't have a lot of influence on the mind-set, attitude, and culture in the program.....which I think we can all agree has gone down the toilet.
So if you're trying to change that...well, it means bye-bye to Trooper, along with everyone else. New has to be new.

Attitude is Everything
So kids that were going to play for one of the worst defenses to be placed on the field in any history with no answer in sight are decommitting with one of the most reputable college D coordinators coming in. There is no way you can tell me that strange recruiting crap/relationships are going on between these guys and one or two staff members even beyond the recruiting process. You can see right through the disciplinary problems and special favorites guys versus guys that weren't in the club. There is more to this story than is being told about the culture of this past regime in that Malzahn has had to come in and clean this up as quickly and decisively as he has. If 4 and 5 stars don't come in and take accountability and work and develope then you have a team of 4 and 5 stars that go 0-7 in the SEC. This is very telling to me. Trooper made a call when he was let go and all that good will you guys thought he had for this school went right out the window. Troop is about one thing right now Troop. Turn your hat back around and use the towel for your shower. Show over.
