I keep seeing this idea mentioned, and I think it warrants its own thread.
The NFL season has four more games left, which means Rocker has a job until then, at least. No one knows what the Titans will do after the season, including whether Rocker is fired, along with the entire staff. Everyone is assuming that the Titans clean house. I know of no announcement to that effect.
Gus and the new DC will want coaches who can start ASAP, and waiting a month to even interview DL coaches is a risk they are unlikely to take. If Rocker isn't fired by Titans we are left scrambling to fill that post with a fifth choice.
I love Rocker and hope he returns one day, but he will not leave his NFL job to come back before end of their season because that would kill any chance of going back to NFL in the future. He may have soured on the NFL, but I seriously doubt he closes that door forever at this point in his career.
There are excellent DL coaches all over the country we can get. They may not have the nostalgia factor, but if that was important we would've hired Pat Washington and Pat Nix and D Craig years ago.
How about Takeo Spikes for LB coach? He might retire!!
Romney Daniels for WR coach!!!
Seriously, I understand the love for Rocker and agree he's a great coach, but let's see who else we can get right now that is just as good if not better.
How about falling in front of the L train. GTFOOH!
"you're so vain, I'll bet you think this post is about you, don't you? Don't you?"
"Regardless of the situation, one of his coin mottos is to take the high road. That's what he's always going to do."
Classy response given recent events.
It's just not necessary nor is it 'standard operating procedure' to completely fill the staff within days when a coaching change takes place. Many coaches that we want to hire will have bowl games or NFL commitments so it wouldn't surprise me at all for a few positions to be filled in late January.
Yeah .. you are 100% right. We might as well not even bother asking him. Better call Gus and give him the 411.
I love when people start threads and post their opinions as if they are facts. He may very well not be the next DL coach at AU, but you don't know anything just like we don't.
I was going to put a witty joke here, but I forgot bama fans still use picture books. So I thought I'd expedite the process for you...
Seriously, don't take me too serious.
Your post completely contradicts your point. If he sees the writing on the wall then he would definitely be interested in looking for another job, whether it AU or anywhere else. Doesn't matter that their season isnt over, literally hundreds of NFL coaches have talked to other programs about jobs before their season was over.
