To all you sissy whining posters that think we were slapped...

  • Should I remind you that this staff, with one week to go caused a kid to really think twice, not only think twice but actually commit on National TV.. saban while he might have got this one.. He hnows he was almost slapped huge.. Guys this kid has been alabama for two years.... His brother plays at bama, his family insisted on bama, Yet he still wanted to come to Auburn. There is nothing for us to hang our head on here. Satan just got woke up, he knows now he don't have every recruit at the snap of a finger. This kid was a shoe in for bama and this staff almost took him in less than a week. My guess is the few that are posting this Auburn was slapped trash is nothing but bammers who were so worried that they were not only going to lose the Iron Bowl, The SEC, The NC, and the Heisman, they were about to be out recruited by Auburn. This class is second to none in getting what they needed, grow some or swap your allegiance you make me sick.

  • They aren't auburn fans. Don't waste your time typing. Real fans know this, and are happy. I stopped caring about this guy on Friday... I don't care to live and die by the whims of someone and his family

  • I never followed recruiting very close until this year, so correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think we had the #1 recruiting class last year. What I do know is that we did have the #1 team in the state, #1 team in the west, #1 team in the SEC, & #1 team in the nation.
I also know that our recruits this year signed with AU because they are 100% committed to AU. Calloway & Cyrus flipped from uat to AU then back to uat therefore I'm still not sure they are 100% committed to uat.
I think we have a great class that's 100% committed & we are the current National Champions. It's what our coaches do with the recruits we get & we see what they did with last year's class. 'nuff said!!!!!

    Agree!

  • haha. Delta Tiger - did you down vote me for agreeing with everyone but you on this topic?

  • At times like these, it's best to just turn the damn computer off and watch paint dry. That is highly preferable to reading posts from fair weather fans with no backbone. A lot of you are just pathetic. Stop acting like little brother for goodness sake. Uggggh.

Also for the mods, why lock a thread, it would be better to delete the whole thing.

    Ha-ha... nope.

So a fair-weather fan is anyone who isn't a homer? Sorry, but God gave me a mind which was educated at Auburn. If a requirement to be person in good standing around here is to toe the happy-clappy line, forget it.

It's really funny -- a lot of you are saying it doesn't matter that we lost this kid, he's not that important, but the way you are reacting so emotionally is EXACTLY the way many of you act when Auburn loses a big game. Line in the sand, adopt this mantra or you're a sissy/Bammer/fair weather fan. Really, it's pathetic.

  • DeltaTiger said... (original post)

    Ha-ha... nope.

    Now it's even funnier!

  • Losing a recruit isn't like losing a game. Do you know how many people Auburn recruited, but DIDN'T sign? The point is, 25 players went to Auburn instead of other schools, Alabama included. 25 or so players went to Alabama instead of other schools, Auburn included. And likewise around the country. We did not need another offensive lineman to make or break our class. We STILL have the number one offensive line class, WITHOUT him.

That's why I am not upset.

    1. He wasn't an insane need
    2. We recruited him late
    3. He wanted to come to Auburn

The reason he went to Alabama is because his brother and family wanted him there, period.

  • DeltaTiger said... (original post)

    Why?

I really don't mean this in a bad way because I try to respect everyone's opinion, but you come across as angry. So I assumed you gave me the down vote. It's funny because of that old saying, "You know what you get when you assume..."

The only thing that really angers me is when people want to draw these bright lines where you either toe the line or you're the enemy. Yeah, that pisses me off because the reason I came to this site to begin with is that I thought it would be a little better than that, but I guess not.

Yeah, yeah, I got it -- only happy-clappy talk allowed. Can't have honest discussion. Must keep our hands firmly over our ears shouting la-la-la and calling those with a different take traitors until we go red in the face... thus looking just like Bama fans. Sorry, not playing that one.

Ohio State played for two national titles recently and got spanked both times. From a 100% rational standpoint, you could say, "Hey, they should be happy that their team did that well!" And certainly there were many, many OSU fans who did just that and called out "sissy, so-called Buckeye fans who want to whine" about losing those games. And meanwhile, the rest of us were laughing at them.

You are right about one thing -- give Auburn credit for getting in on two kids they had no business stealing and nearly pulling it off. But the fact of the matter is that we played and lost. And when you play high-stakes poker and lose, the loss is all the worse.

Spin it all you want, call names like an elementary school playground bully all you want, but this one's gonna leave a mark.

DeltaTiger you are taking a mighty strong stand about losing one kid. I had no idea he was the missing link to our dynasty we were building. Wow, just think if he had not committed to Auburn last week we would never have known what caused our future downfall. Gimme a break he is one player and it is not gonna matter one iota that he ultimately chose Alabama. It is not embarrassing to Chizik at all. If anything Saban is breathing a big sigh of relief that he salvaged both Calloway & Cyrus. You are doing a disservice to every player that may compete on the o-line by your doomsday predictions. You nor I have any idea who will eventually start across the o-line, but I am quite confidant in both Grimes & Chizik. We have more talent today on the o-line than any time in the past 4 years. I am talking talent not experience. Give it time to see how it unfolds. You might be surprised.

  • Fine. You asked me to do it, so I will. Here are the issues with your post.

"Yeah, yeah, I got it -- only happy-clappy talk allowed. Can't have honest discussion. Must keep our hands firmly over our ears shouting la-la-la and calling those with a different take traitors until we go red in the face... thus looking just like Bama fans. Sorry, not playing that one."

We could say the same thing to you. Only screaming and whining and crying allowed. Forgive us if we don't pander to people who overreact about one recruit. If this was a dialogue following a loss to Louisiana Monroe, maybe your point would be valid. Unfortunately, you are off base, as I explain below.

"Ohio State played for two national titles recently and got spanked both times. From a 100% rational standpoint, you could say, "Hey, they should be happy that their team did that well!" So losing a recruit is like losing the national title game? So let me ask you, how many recruits did we lose? EVERYONE WHO DIDN'T COME TO AUBURN. That's hundreds. Crowell didn't come. Drew didn't come. That quaterback from Mater Dei high school in California didn't come, he went to USC. No one gets all the recruits they may want. Recruiting is about filling your needs. We did that, in a recognized top 5 way. There are no holes, save a running back. Offense hasn't been the problem though, it's been the secondary, which we filled big time. You think anyone is laughing at this class, to use your comparison? The only person getting laughed at is you.

"You are right about one thing -- give Auburn credit for getting in on two kids they had no business stealing and nearly pulling it off. But the fact of the matter is that we played and lost. And when you play high-stakes poker and lose, the loss is all the worse."

We took a guy comitted to Alabama for 3 years and got him to flip, and a guy whose brother goes to Alabama to say on national television he wants to go to Auburn. As you yourself admitted, we were trying to STEAL some recruits. I'll complain if we lose a Gabe Wright to Tennessee, who we were recruiting for 3 years. I won't be sorry we lose a guy to his brother's school, because his family wanted him to go there.

  • losing CK was not a big deal.. the way we lost him was a big deal... he got on national television and proclaimed he was coming to AU... he ended up signing with the enemy... it does sting but it also makes him look as bad as it does AU... we don't need him but i wish he had not ever committed to us in the first place if he was not coming here...

By doomsday I point to your consistent references to the negative perception and the mark this is going to leave. You have gone to great lengths to point this out. I can only surmise that you see this as a doomsday situation. What perception or mark are you worried about? Are you afraid Bama folks are going to use this in a negative way? They would not do that would they? Who cares!

Well you could, but you would be wrong. I may disagree with you, but I wouldn't stoop to questioning someone's loyalty over it.

"If this was a dialogue following a loss to Louisiana Monroe..."

Oh, you're doing your best to make sure there is no dialogue by shutting up anyone who disagrees with you.

"So losing a recruit is like losing the national title game?"

Nope, and that's not what I said. And you talk about me overreacting? My point was simply that there is a certain type of fan who wants to circle the wagons after a loss -- either of a game or a recruit -- and any negativity is simply not tolerated. I used an example everyone is familiar with, that's all.

"We took a guy comitted to Alabama for 3 years and got him to flip, and a guy whose brother goes to Alabama to say on national television he wants to go to Auburn...."

Yeah, I got all that. But again, when you lose on the big stage, it's still a loss, and "icing on the cake" or not, C.K. was still our highest-rated recruit, and he still went to our biggest rival.

Is it the end of the world? Hell no, and we still got a great class. But here's the thing: The way some of you are reacting, it's like you really think it IS the end of the world and are simply in denial. I mean, if someone had come on here and talked about how awful it was that Bama beat us for LaMichael Fanning, you probably would have just ignored it. Certainly no one would have bothered creating a thread to denounce "sissy whiners" who were bummed about it. So a lot of what you guys are saying about everything being great is undermined and belied by how you're actually behaving.
