Seriously, don't take me too serious.
I admit I have had thoughts about Cecil Newton's part in all this myself. After all things weighed in I think he deserves for us to try and see it from his point of view. This is am pastor of several churches, poor churches, in a huge city during the biggest economic downturn in 80 years. This man is listening to families that are in desperate affairs. no jobs, hungry, children, invalids, and so on. This can cause even the strongest of us to wonder where is the help coming from. Atlanta was closing him down. In what may have been a weak moment he may have entertain the only solution he could see. I am sure he is not proud of this now. Can you imagine what it was like for him to tell his son what he had done? His wife? The things that are predominant here is that he did not lie but said he did talk about money. He had to admit it to his family and congregation . He knows he has caused a lot of hurt. But.....Look at his son. Cam has fought through this like a man far more mature than his 21 years. He has been a leader among leaders on this team. They admire him more now than even before (Mike Dyer quote). His coaches call him out for stellar character in the midst of this whole year. He still honors his parents and Auburn University, not once caving in to the hottest press slander any college athlete has ever had in my life time. All he did at the UA game was to cover his mouth.... so where I now stand is that Cecil Newton made a mistake that I know he wishes he could take back. Any parent out there done it all right? BUT HE RAISED A HECK OF A GREAT SON SO CECIL NEWTON IS A MAN THAT HAS DONE A LOT RIGHT. I 'M NOT THROWING ANY STONES.
