Among Auburn fans, the silent majority seems to be focused on the positive moves made within the athletic department to turn things around on the football team following the horrendous 2012 campaign which came only two years after a national championship. However, the vocal minority appears to be more focused on rehashing the reasons that, in their opinion, Jay Jacobs, Tony Barbee, John Pawlowski and Jay Gouge need to be fired… yesterday! Among the few things yet to be seen is a thread that establishes a definitive link between Jay Jacobs and Dennis Rodman with respect to Rodman’s recent trip to North Korea, the ensuing nuclear tests and subsequent posturing by the U.S. and North Korean governments.
The primary challenges of the spring will be for enough information to come out of the spring football sessions to reinvigorate the entire fan base with football optimism while John Pawlowski finds ways to push the right buttons and have the baseball team finish above .500 in league play.
All the while, existing athletes and prospective recruits will be watching the behavior of the fans for clues regarding the true meaning of family. Unlike children who are born or adopted in to families and get no vote, athletes choose their university family.
While I support active critique of athletic performances, I hope that the spring drills and games assist in making us all part of the solution and not part of the problem. One rule I follow with my boss is that I never take a problem to him without also taking what I truly believe to be a viable solution.
Go get 'em Tigers! WDE

No, I would say that the majority just want to get back to being respectable again. Also, the majority wants JJ gone.
A few weeks ago I had an exchange with someone who said that the "majority" wanted Barbee gone. In fact, he started a poll and, although I never saw any "official" results, it looked pretty split to me. My position is different on AD Jacobs as I do not feel qualified or even "in the know" enough to have an opinion of value. That having been said, I like the changes in football, I support the retention of Barbee and I am in favor of giving Pawlowski the remainder of this season before making a decision. So, assuming those to be the AD's decisions, I guess I would have to say I am a supporter of what is being done right now. But, I really have no idea if I am part of a silent majority or a silent minority (in response to mwdeav's comment). By the way, did Jacobs hire Terri Williams-Flournoy? They just won 84-66 to advance in the Women's NIT. I would say that is looking to be a decent hire. WDE
Even Scarbo is writing about how stupid it is that Jacobs still has his job.
"silent majority"... what a crock. This is just something people who are in the minority say when they can't get anyone to agree with them. The majority of hard core AU fans realize JJ is in over his head.
I think this may be JJ talking right now.
Dude's been piping dumb all day.
I Believe Auburn and Love IT...4 Life!
You should prepare yourself to live with the consequences of your decisions, whatever they may be.
For the record, I have been a loyal Auburn man since long before I attended Auburn and graduated in 1979. My initial post was an effort to request an air of respectfulness amongst ourselves which I see as lacking. Several comments which have been made in this thread, recently, seem to tell me my perception was, unfortunately, accurate. To those of you who responded in this way, I really could not care less what your opinions are because of your attitudes of intolerance towards dissenting viewpoints.
It's great to be an Auburn Tiger and a member of the true Auburn family. WDE
Well he got ONE right (maybe). (Although I think Gus will be successful he hasn't coached a down yet) Lets review the wrongs. hired Gene Chizik, game Gene Chizik a ridiculous raise, kept Jeff Lebo too long, hired Barbee, Tina Deese is still around, Tim Jackson is still around, let our all world swimming coach leave for petty reasons, and he has terrible sideburns. He doesn't make a decision until its too late which is the biggest teller of somebody either can't process what's happening or doesn't care. Which, lets be honest; Bo, Pat, and I can't remember the other guy actually hired Gus. JJ just announced it at the press conference.

Nope. Just JJ. Never been big on that hire. He and Timmy Jackson have made a fortune of off our University for too many years, and the results do not warrant their pay.
This is a perfect post. It explains exactly why there are those of us disgusted with the direction of our program. Yes, I stand by what I said. They need to be gone, yesterday when discussing the athletic department administration.
