I will probably be racked of the coals for this but I like the idea of smart. If you're one of those people who is completely against him that is probably because you acting on emotions and your really not thinking it through. I am not saying he is my top choice because I have never meet any of the coaches being names. I am not in the coaching circles so I am not qualified to make that decision. All I am saying is I like the idea and if he is the guy I hope everyone will support him.
My biggest point against him is his head coaching exp....there is none.
We are not in a postion right now with bama winning the SEC and now playing for it all AGAIN. We can not afford to wait 3-4 years to try and catch up.
- What would his staff look like?
- What would his offensive philosphy be?
- How much of bamas defense is him and what part is saban?
I know we can pick apart any coach and I have made my mindset be known about Kirby. But I am not under the impression that we can afford to miss on this hire. Must be a pick that can make us relevant again. And we must have someone that understands how to develop and evaluate talent.
If you cant be honest....whats the point of being anything?
Your dead on about the Head Coaching exp because he has zero. I think we need to remember smart should understand how a big time program must be ran to be successful . He has been at alabama/sabans program at uat for 5 years now. The guy knows the state and is known as a good recruiter. He will probably have a great passion to surpass saban. With all the names that are being thrown out there he seems to be the best choice. I guess BP could be. I personally don't think gus aor morris is the answer.
Id dye's pushing him, then Flatbed is too. If Flatbed is pushing him I dont want ANYTHING to do with him.
There are plenty of successful head coaches that were hired directly from coordinator positions. If Smart were to take the position at Auburn, he would understand the responsibility that he is assuming. He understands the current state of our program, and I'm sure that he has a plan in mind to straighten the current flaws. If the search committee selects Kirby Smart, then I am sure that the committee has 100% confidence in his mindset to turn the football program around. There is no denying the fact that Smart is a winner, and if he is chosen by the committee it will be an excellent hire. We, as fans, do not know the exact details of everything that goes on in the athletic program. Therefore, our opinions are nothing but speculation, and we should have confidence in Bo Jackson, Pat Sullivan, and Mac Crawford.

^^Agree with EVERY WORD! Auburn is not a position for HCs in Training!!!! We need someone with PROVEN HC experience right now!!!!!!!
Ron, would Kirby take the job if offered. You said a while back you weren't sure.
Muschamp has done pretty will as a HC in training, def co-ord.
