Still don't understand the perception that some have with Auburn so I took some time to see just how many football programs have been on probation since Auburn was last on probation. Thought others might be interested to know.

Folks do not like facts. We have not had a recruiting violation since the trumped up charges in the 70s. But Nationally, folks believe Alabama to be one of the more corrupt programs. Locally, Alabama fan, etc. just keep saying that Auburn is dirty.
uat is corrupt. Always has been and it'll continue no matter how many times they get nailed by the NCAA. It's in their DNA...just how they are wired.

It's plain to see who leads all listed with the greatest number of times on probation. Their claims and lies about AU being guilty of everything illegal is simply them trying to not count that Nationall Title distinction. Maybe I should not give them any ideas or they will add another National Title to their warpped thinking.
Can someone post this list to every major Bama website? Many of them need a serious reality check, and it would be pretty damn funny to get their panties in a bunch.
Auburn will always have an uphill battle when it comes to public perception, as has been noted in another thread.
Even if the in-state media is simply neutral to Auburn, they still have an incentive to write to their audience, 70-80% of whom are hostile to Auburn. All stories have two sides, and in Auburn's case our success stories are often investigated looking for smoke and fire rather than looking for leadership and athletic prowess. National media sources pick up that vibe, and I believe it skews the way Auburn is perceived nationally. We do need to admit that some of this is self-inflicted due to our high number of NCAA probations, no matter how ridiculous we feel some of them were.
As in most things, this just means we need to work harder than most of our rivals, but I don't believe that's a bad thing. I take pride in it, actually.
I deal with these perceptions all the time in New England. I bet I have read 10 to 1 negative to positive articles about Auburn in this area. Even the people at ESPN who are supposed to know the latest and greatest about all news stories don't get it right. I'm constantly correcting people on the facts about Auburn.
I feel for you, CT. Got to be tough defending AU against complete ignorance. At least in AL we can blame it on updykeness...I think I just made up a new word.
