"Far and away the best prize that life has to offer is the chance to work hard at work worth doing." Teddy Roosevelt
Started at the bottom, now we here.....better get used to it.
This article is over the top. He missed on this one. I'm not happy about the troubles of any 1 of our players, but to take the examples he did and clump them together is way over the top. If the players won't police themselves, I'm sure our coaching staff will be happy to oblige.
Kevin closes his article with this: "The disciplinary actions taken by Chizik suggest that the program isn't out of control. The repeated need for disciplinary action raises the possibility that the program is headed in that direction."
The entire article is not a scathing indictment and on balance, I'm not overly offended.
* Zeke Pike was recruited by everyone, including Auburn. When he didn't shape up, he got sent home with no ticket back. His transfer is because he wasn't willing to become Auburn material. Lots of schools were willing to take a chance; we just won the opportunity. Didn't work out. Louisville's issue, not ours.
* Jovon Robinson is not our issue either. His grades--from what we know--have nothing to do with us. Rip on Dyer and the armed robbery; I get that and it is worth debating. But to claim Chizik's control of the program is somehow tied to Robinson is wrong.
* Dee Liner is on everyone's list. Chizik has no control over him at this point; he's not part of the team. Again, if he was committed to another team, would he have behaved differently?
* Rose is another issue. There is no evidence he did anything other than "not fit." He's at Nebraska. Is a transfer somehow evidence of major problems? If so, that's a big club.
Scarbinsky is usually quite fair with us. He's not far off here and I'd be shocked if the Auburn coaches are sitting around right now saying, "Ahh, no worries with our kids at all." And yet, Kevin over-reached.
It's great to be an Auburn Tiger!!!
I'm on the "Gus Bus" and loving the ride!
