Birmingham News today page 7B Sports section says Armstead family searched for an Auburn cap Saturday so they could display it with other caps representing the 6 other schools that he is considering, and all will be displayed when he makes his announcement this afternoon. But cap hardest to find in Sacramento was Auburn's.
To me, that is probably not a good sign.....

Well I am new to all this recruiting business..... Sorry if it means nothing. I knew from reading this board that he is a long shot. And this article just seemed to confirm that, as I am thinking that he could have picked up an AU hat when he was here for his visit if he was even half way interested. Go easy on me - like I said just starting to read about recruiting and understanding it. And a girl to boot!
To me If it is that hard for him to find then it must be important for him to get one. Plus I think when he came to Auburn for his visit he left with an Auburn hat. Consider the source people. Birmingham paper? for real? Just another term for tolliet paper where i come from.

Auburn from day one.
Welcome to the recruiting world. It's fun and occupies way too much of my time, but it makes the offseason more fun. Plus, with such a young team, there is a good chance you may see some of these guys making contributions for 3-4 years.

Maybe his family was just making a joke...I bet it would be much easier to find an AU hat than a Cal hat in Alabama right?

..........BEAT BAMA .................BEAT BAMA..................BEAT BAMA
This is how I took it when I first read what you said. If it is in fact true that he did this, then I would say it's because he respects Auburn's coaches for traveling so far to see him multiple times and he wants to return that respect by making sure Auburn is represented at his presser. He should have plenty of Auburn merchandise from his visit 2 weeks ago if he'd been really interested in coming to Auburn. I think this is a sign he is not coming, but wanted to be classy about declining the offer.

The way I look at it is if he was going to AU he would have had the hat already. I am sure if the coaches knew he was going he would have had a box of them on hand.
